I first noticed the ABS warning light was lit after stopping my car. When I got to speed the speedometer wasn't working either.
Hello, You got to visit the volvo service shop near you to fix this issue. Your speedometer may be lost connection,only a service technician can be able to fix this.

about 240.00 according to the volvo dr. ,fountain vally ,ca. An elect. part behind the speedo. is the problem . My 91 940 speedo stops working at 45 mph. thats what they told me. good luck,pete.

Usually the ABS computer knows what it is doing. You may want someone to hookup a scanner to the ABS test port.
When I had my speedometer and odometer act up, it turned out to be a bad alternator. You might want to check yours.

Hi Liz, I am in exacty the same position as you although I just had the new abs pump fitted and I still have the same problems??? I am going crazy with this, my garage's diagnostic machine won't commuicate with my car and my speedo is not working? My mechanic reckons the abs memory is stuck in a loop and that is why the lights ain't going out, but without a diagnostic I dont know, I guess I will have to take it to a dealership to be ripped off!!!!

this is one of the last cable operated speedos(straight out of the 740)just replace the cable.its probably the spigot on the end of the cable,known to break...
