Its an EVAP purge valve circuit problem dont know why you would buy a egr valve ---also its a circuit so it can be valve problem or wiring / connection problem you need to test for the problem instead of buying parts and throwing them in

P0443 FORD - EVAP Purge Control Circuit Possible causes Faulty Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control harness is open or shorted Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control circuit poor electrical connection What does this mean? When is the code detected? - An improper voltage signal is sent to ECM through the valve. Possible symptoms Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) P0443 Ford Description The Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) canister purge volume control solenoid valve uses a ON/OFF duty to control the flow rate of fuel vapor from the EVAP canister. The EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is moved by ON/OFF pulses from the ECM. The longer the ON pulse, the greater the amount of fuel vapor that will flow through the valve.

Ok here is the solution when I had the exact same problem with my 2001 Ford Escape:
Replace:
Idler air control valve
EGR vaccum sylenoid
EGR valve
I did all of this work myself (and as a girl it was not hard at all), it cost me around $170.00 for all of the parts, had it done in less than 2 hrs., erased the codes and have not had a problem since then! I hope this helps you out, cuz it sure would have helped me out when I encountered the same problem.
SOURCE: got code P1402 sum say it is EGR problem, but that
code 1402 EGR valve position sensor open or shorted, check the wires going to the sensor and the plug itself, hope this helps if not get back to me and we'll go from there

This might sound crazy but it works with these Escapes most of the time. Go buy a can of Seafoam from your part store. With the engine off, disconnect the brake booster vacuum line and place it in the can of sea foam. Start your engine and keep your foot on the gas pedal and keep the RPM's around 2k.The vehicle is going to smoke like crazy for 10 minutes or so, when the smoke clears up for the most part, go drive it for a couple of miles and see if that helps. It cleans out the carbon buildup from you intake and sensors and takes care of that code you getting most of the time. OR, you purge canister needs to be replaced...

The code in the ECU might not have reset after you changed the EGR. Try unhooking the battery and let the car sit for a couple minutes and then hook it back up and see if the light goes away.

P0401 shows an Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient. Without a good scan-tool you will be playing the "Parts Changing Game". Insufficient flow can be the result of a vacuum leak, bad MAP sensor, an exhaust leak, faulty EBP sensor, carbon build-up, and so on. I wish I could say more but with all the electronics it is more complicated then earlier cars.
