SOURCE: 1992 Toyota Previa van,Oil dripping onto exhaust manifold, replace head gasket? need a free manual!

The toyota previa uses a formed silicone gasket for the valve cover and the cover is held in place by metric shoulder bolts ( 10mm). The valve gasket leaks because you can't get enough preload on the bolts to re-seat the old gasket when it gets old and shrinks. The shoulder bolts only allow you to tighten the gasket enough to seat the shoulder on the bolt. If you continue to torque down the suspected bolts, you will snap the bolt off ( don't ask me how I know this ). You can either 1.)replace the old gasket with a new one or 2.) remove the existing bolts around the leak area and put in new metric bolts that do not have a shoulder. You may want to put in a small sleeve into the existing bolt hole but shorter than the thickness of the valve cover to account for the smaller diameter bolt. You can now torque down the bolt and get enough preload to seal the valve cover without removing the old gasket. Make sure you use a torque wrench ( in-lbs) or be very careful not to snap these small valve cover bolts.

SOURCE: Head gasket blown. What is approximate cost to

    Considerations
  1. Many internal engine problems, such as a blown head gasket, cracked head or cracked piston, can be repaired without having to replace an entire engine.
  2. Potential
  3. While taking the time to replace an engine may seem labor-intensive and costly, it will add years to a vehicle's life and will save a car owner from the cost of having to buy a new car.
  4. Benefits
  5. Taking a car to a mechanic and replacing an engine with a used engine can cost between $1,000 to $2,000 for parts and labor.
  6. Solution
  7. Car owners interested in replacing their engines with new ones can expect to pay anywhere between $2,000 to $4,000.
  8. Speculation
  9. For those interested in doing the engine replacement themselves, purchasing specialized tools needed for the job is a cost to consider in addition to the price of a replacement engine.

SOURCE: 1994 toyota pickup blown head

So the first question is ... is it really a blown head gasket? Could also be damaged head, block, etc and the timing chain can wear through it's housing and allow coolant into the oil. If it is a blown head gasket then why did it happen? Is the head warped, coolant passages corroded, or ?? Here's link to
a '93 manual to give you some idea what you're dealing with. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/ Can you replace the gasket in shop or driveway ... depends on what sort of
complications you run in to. You may want to have a valve job done while you're there, maybe
time to do the timing chain, etc. Give it a try.

Cost to rplace head gasket for a 1994 t100 toyota

There are too many variables to be considered meaning it isn't possible to provide a quotation.

Head gasket replacement is never a routine job and it is only possible to decide what actions are necessary and what are desirable after the cylinder head has been removed. It is not a task to be hurried and other work is likely to be necessary in order to provide long term reliability and good value, the cylinder head gasket face will probably need resurfacing for instance and typically there will be much cleaning and truing needed to produce a satisfactory finished job.
It is also usual to change the engine oil and filter, fit a new thermostat and fill with new coolant...

It might be found desirable to resurface the valves or simply just replace the valve stem oil seals. Unless replaced very recently the timing belt should also be replaced...
There is also price differences between OE parts and pattern parts to consider.

If the head gasket failed completely, the oxygen sensor and CAT might also need replacing, though it is impossible to check these until the engine is running again.

1994 tercel overheated now wont start

I answered this with a lengthy explanation.. about blowing your head gasket do not run a car when it over heats it will cost you a engine.. wait until it cools down to add water and most likely you need a new thermostat or you already have a blown head gasket .. this is much cheaper then an engine do not drive car when HOT.

1987 toyota pickup with 22r keeps blowing head gasket

Your head bolts are stretched, when it got hot it weakened the metal in the bolts which means that the bolts cannot hold the needed tension on the head. Replace the bolts and you will stop blowing head gaskets. Also use Genuine Toyota head gasket, It will be a bit dearer but they are much better than aftermarket options.

My toyota 4-runner keeps blowing off the radiator cap. The temperature gauge not running hot. Can someone help me?

From the description you gave sounds like a head gasket is bad. That kind of pressure is extreme. Check your oil and see if it's "milky". It sounds like blown head gasket is allowing compression into cooling system. I'd have it in to a shop ASAP before it blows your radiator and does more damage.

Yesterday the car over heat and stop by the time aaa came it started back but shakes a little then stop when u cut it on think its the motor how much do a motor cost for a toyota camery 1994 used or new

it is very possible that the head gasket is blown and the head is warped an engine new will cost about 3000.00 and used anywhere from 500.00 to 900.00 and installation is not included if the car does not have a whole lot of miles it would be safe to replace the head gasket and have the old head tested for leaks and warps or replaced which would be considerably less than a new engine

The code reads misfire on cylinders 2 & 4

Are you losing coolants and having to add? are you getting white smoke from your tail pipe? if your having any of this you might have a leaky head gasket, make sure you check everything because if it is the head gasket you need to have it replace as soon as possible before it gets so hot that it damages the head.
