While having the hood open your hood light was probably on which drained the battery. Charge battery or jump it you should be fine

I don’t think the problem is associated with replacing the water pump - the clicking noise is the solenoid on the starter motor not holding in - the Solinoid is either faulty or the battery is too flat to keep it engaged.
Check the battery voltage while it is clicking - or charge the battery - if the problem persists you could pull the starter and get it checked by an auto electrician.

SOURCE: How do you replace turn signal bulb on 2001 Izuzu Trooper?

NOT SURE IF IT IS TRUE ON THIS KIND OF VEHICLE, BUT USUALLY WHEN CHANGING A BULB YOU NEED TO GO UNDER THE HOOD ON WHATEVER SIDE YOU ARE CHANGING...AND THERE WILL BE A KIND OF PLUG INTO THE BACK OF THE ACTUAL LIGHT FIXTURE, IF YOU GIVE IT LIKE A QUARTER TURN IT WILL PULL OUT YOU THEN CHANGE THE BULB AND PROCEED WITH PLUGGING BACK IN. MAYBE THIS WILL HELP!

SOURCE: 91 trooper water pump replacement

If your car is over-heating, chances are it's the water pump or thermostat. These two parts should be changed out at the same time because if your pump is old enough to go out then the thermostat is not far behind.

Step1 serpentine247bs_thumb.jpg First you'll need to pull out the old water pump. Look in your vehicles owners manual and find the diagram showing what all that stuff under your hood is. locate the water pump (usually underneath alternator running on the same belt) you'll need to take this belt (serpentine or other) off to start pulling the old pump. There should be a tension bar or arm that easily loosens the belt with the right size socket. Step2 Once you've gotten the belt off you can begin to remove the old pump. There should be only a few large bolts holding it in. After you've gotten the old pump out, place the silicone sealer on the new water pumpmag-glass_10x10.gif 9around the edges where it meets the gasket. Then apply the sealer to the gasket as well, just use your fingers to spread it on. Now place the new pump with gasket, where the old one was, replace the bolts and be sure not to crank down too tight on the bolts or you might crack the gasket and your pump wont seal. Step3 thermo_thumb.jpg Now that you've gotten the new pump installed, you'll want to replace the thermostat. the thermostat could be located near the water pump or on the other side of the engine. So once again, refer to the vehicles owners manual and find where the thermostat is. You might need to remove some hoses and/or lines to get to the thermostat, so just be careful not to break/bend/crack or damage anything (the older the vehicle, the better chance of something breaking) Pull the old thermostat and replace it with the new and you're all done. Don't forget to put everything (hoses, lines, nuts'n bolts) back where they came from and off you go!

SOURCE: We replaced the water pump and radiator - leaking coolant

It could be leaking thought the gasket or radiator hose. Remove the water pump and replace the gasket, inspect the water pump first to make sure it's not leaking through the radiator hose and weep holes, if it is leaking through the weep hole then replace the water pump again since the water pump is faulty. good luck and keep me posted.

SOURCE: parked 91 trooper went to start week later starter

you could try spining the engine with a 1/2 inch breaker bar and the socket for the crank bolt and see if the engine turns. If engine turns u cud check your ground wire and hot wire going to the starter.

Replace water pump

Slack off the alternator and spin off the belts then the 4 10mm nuts holding the fan pulley on lift away the fan and the pulley then its the ring of 12mm head bolts to get the pump off itself .Use a new gasket here on the rebuild .
If you have A/C the the a/c belt comes off first by slacking off the compressor and you may find the whole job easier if you pop off the top plastic fan guard .

I have a 2001 Isuzu Trooper and when I turn on the air conditioning the engine quits, what could be the problem?

AC pump seized up, or alternator not producing enough power to run it. Loose battery terminal connections or ground cable. Try turning the pump by hand when the engine is not running. You should be able to turn the end of it.
