I am having the same problem, this has been going on for a while and now I get 5 short beeps from my computer not my radio, I am hoping that it is from my radio, I had to replace the battery and when they put the new one in the radio started clicking but nothing comes out it tells me slots are full which I know there is only 3 in it
Did you get your problem fixed? I am having the exact same problem with my 6 CD player in my 2003 Ford Escape.

yes, actually there are 5 cd's in there already, with 1 empty slot. the problem happened when 1 cd was playing, and i wanted to switch to another cd. that is when it started to make the "fluttering/clicking" sound. i tried to eject any of them, and it wouldn't come out, the same thing happened when i tried to load into the 6th slot...it wouldn't let me. ( i think it is upset with me because i bought a Mustang recently and the Escape is my spare/winter car now )
Any help will greatly be appreciated!

i haven't looked into it, but i have 5 cd's in there now. the problem started when 1 cd was playing, and i wanted to switch to another cd. then it started to make the fluttering/clicking noise. now when i try to either eject or load one in the empty slot, it pretends like its going to do so, then nothing happens. i will have to look into the slot door with a flashlight to see if i can see anything. thank you for your help,
Patsy
the "door" won't open
My Husband was able to remove the whole radio/CD player with a special tool. He then took it apart and found out what was wrong. I can only use 5 of the 6 slots, but that is okay with me. This is a better solution if you don't want to take it to the dealer. All they tell you is they take out the old one, and you have to buy a whole new one to put in it's place. They won't fix the old one. Good thing my husband knows how to fix things. It saved us a LOT of money.
Can you see the disc in it?
