yes, actually there are 5 cd's in there already, with 1 empty slot. the problem happened when 1 cd was playing, and i wanted to switch to another cd. that is when it started to make the "fluttering/clicking" sound. i tried to eject any of them, and it wouldn't come out, the same thing happened when i tried to load into the 6th slot...it wouldn't let me. ( i think it is upset with me because i bought a Mustang recently and the Escape is my spare/winter car now )
Any help will greatly be appreciated!

i haven't looked into it, but i have 5 cd's in there now. the problem started when 1 cd was playing, and i wanted to switch to another cd. then it started to make the fluttering/clicking noise. now when i try to either eject or load one in the empty slot, it pretends like its going to do so, then nothing happens. i will have to look into the slot door with a flashlight to see if i can see anything. thank you for your help,

    the "door" won't open

My Husband was able to remove the whole radio/CD player with a special tool. He then took it apart and found out what was wrong. I can only use 5 of the 6 slots, but that is okay with me. This is a better solution if you don't want to take it to the dealer. All they tell you is they take out the old one, and you have to buy a whole new one to put in it's place. They won't fix the old one. Good thing my husband knows how to fix things. It saved us a LOT of money.

My 2002 nissan altima ate my cd and won't play or eject it. Instead it makes a grinding sound. I love that cd and would love to listen to cds in my car in the future! Please help

there seems to be a serious problem with the CD player, unfortunately your CD has gone to CD heaven, as for the CD player it may be cheaper to replace it than to repair it.......hope this helps......cheers.

Got 2002 ford explorer and the 6 cds will not come

OK I am no expert but I have has this exact same problem......TWICE. I just addressed it again this afternoon by disconnecting the battery. Once reconnected the radio "initialized" and I was able to eject all cd's and use the player again. I can only speculate as to the cause but it could be because at least 3 of the cd's contained MP3's burned from my ITunes library. I will stick to audio cd's and see if it happens again!

CD eject error

My wife has a 2002 Escape and has a similar issue. She uses a piece of cardboard and slides into the CD slot and slightly presses the CD. In turn, the mechanism pushes the CD out.

I have had the CD player out in it's entirety, and nothing appears to be wrong.

Hope this helps.

I have a 6 CD player in my escape that has worked just fine for six years. last week when I tried to play a CD, it said CD error. When I tried to eject any of the CD's, it said no CDs loaded. How do I...

Sometimes things just quit working. Not many parts on a car last a lifetime anymore. Chances are your stock radio has gone bad and it would'nt be worth while to have it fixed. Go to a ruputable audio place( best buy, circuit city) have an aftermarket radio/cd player installed, this would be the cheapest fix for your problem.

CD player not working correctly

Try turning off the radio and disconnecting the battery for 1 min and then reconnecting the battery. Turn on the radio and see if that reset the radio so you can get your CD out and try cleaning the CD player with a cd player cleaner. Note you have to make sure the radio is off before you disconnect the battery. Good luck and hope this helps

Cannot get CD to eject. It plays, but won't eject.

I am having the same problem with my Ford Escape. Try hitting the load button instead of eject and it may come right out.

There is a CD jammed in the cd player. (6 cd changer) It is a 2004 Ford Escape

It happens to me all the time on my 2002. Try cycling the load and unload buttons for the stuck CD location. If that doesn't work try ejecting the CD. When the slot door opens, try putting another CD into the slot and push on the edge of the stuck CD.
