Air conditioning condensate leaking into passenger compartment

Getting clear fluid leaking inside cab onto the passenger area of the floorboards. Fluid appears to be water, not coolant or oil. Is there a drain for the air conditioner that may be plugged or disconnected? If so, where might I find a diagram of this? I have the manual on cd, but don't see a diagram that mentions any drain.

Should be on the engine side of the firewall in front of the air conditioner box...usually a small stub hose sticking out...roll it in your fingers and stick a finger into it and generally it will open up.

Get some old clothes on and crawl under the truck. Look at the firewall ( backside of motor ) you should see a rubber tube / hose sticking down on the passenger side of the truck. Look to see if you can see any obstructions and clean out if found. If you do not see any blockage you may have to disassemble some of the heater plenium to find the problem area.

Why does my 2004 Saturn Ion AC leak water into passenger side floor?

The condensation drain line has either gotten plugged or has fallen off.

The component of an A/C system that makes the air cold is called the evaporator, logically it needs to be in the air-conditioned space. In cars it's nearly always in the dashboard on the passenger side.

Warm air holds more moisture than cold air, so as air is circulated through the evaporator to cool it, the moisture in the air condenses back to liquid, like a mini rain shower in a box. That water, usually called condensate, has to go somewhere so there is a hole in the bottom of the evaporator and a tube to carry it out of the cab, through the firewall, into the engine compartment and onto the ground.

If the tube becomes plugged, condensate will accumulate until it overflows an air vent. If it comes off or cracks, the problem is obvious. It's pretty common for a condensate drain in a car to plug, junk falls into the intake vent that won't fit down the drain.

Clearing it would be simple if getting to it wasn't so involved, check your service manual for details.

Where is engine heater

There should be a plug sticking out of or near the front grill. Block heaters are generally connected to the oil pan.
If you meant the heat exchange that brings heat from the engine into the passenger area, that is on the psssenger side betwern the firewall and the dashboard, usually near the glove compartment. This heater core will leak sweet-smelling radiator fluid (engine coolant) onto thr floorboards if it is defective. If you just aren't getting heat, be sure your coolant level is full, and if it is (but there is no leaking into the passenger area,) then look at the valve inside the engine compartment, and at what is called the Blend-door.

I hae air conditioning condensation leak into passenger floorboard on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

It is most likely due to the condesation drain tube being clogged. This tube should drain into the engine compartment. It should be located near the A/C evap. coil area where the refrigerant lines go through the bulkhead. If this tube gets clogged, the condensate will back up and find its way into the passenger compartment

Condensor is leaking into cab. Cannot find the drain tube in the engine compartment to try and clear it... Does anyone know where the drain is located?

  • The condenser won't leak in the cab. Do you mean the heater core? That would leak onto your floorboard if it's leaking. This is located behind the dash. The condenser is full of r134 refrigerant gas. If that's leaking then a discharge of the AC system and a repair would be needed.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Transmission oil leak, clear fluid on passenger side , when ever car stops

Probably Air conditioning condensation (normal) or rain water build up in wiper motor area due to leaves or other debris clogging the drain tubes. If its leaking in car the drain tube into the engine compartment is plugged up. Just needs unplugged with compressed air or a piece of wire.

My 2005 taurus has started getting a pool of water on the passenger side floorboard after a heavy rain, any ideas on how to fix, didn't see any leaks from windshield.

Look for moisture on the glass of the windshield, as well as the passenger side door, if thebottom seal isnt making contact on the door glass water will run in threw the door

Fluid leaking onto the front passenger side floorboards.

2004 TB 60,000 miles. i was just told that the leaking fluid in my passenger side floorboard was do to a clogged up A/c hose. An A/C works by drying/ removing the moisture from the air inside the vehicle and cooling it. The accumulated fluid is usually evacuated under the vehicle which is what you see when people are stopped at a red light and there is dripping under their car. when a hose is blocked there is a vent that from some reason flows directly into the passenger side floor board. If you can not manually knock loose the block your probably going to have to take it to a mechanic.

Water on passenger floorboard

there should be a drain for condensation in the lower part of the engine compartment on the firewall . it might be plugged up so the water stays in the compartment and leaks inside.
