Changed plugs and coils. Fuel injector cleaner. Just runs really rough and when trying to accelerate makes a lot of sound. Any help
Ok............when you change plugs the cmptr needs to relearn firing order. it takes 3-5 times/restarts before it relearns. I went through the exact same thing with my expedition. a day or two later she purred like a kitten. secondly if you are having acceleration problems you may be looking at a bad catalytic converter. lastly......check your air filter, take it out and see how it runs without filter. that was also an issue I had when it was rough running. good luck
SOURCE: Diagnostic Codes p0171 bank 1, and p0174 bank 2 (too lean)
Those codes are for the oxygen sensors, lean fuel mixture on both banks. Change them, problem with stalling and rough idle should go away.

Hey. How many miles on it. If over 100,000, it may need new O2 sensors but unlikely both would go out of spec at the same time. You will need to install a scan tool with data stream abilitys. The pressure regulator could be ruptured which will drastically richen up both banks. If no tool, locate the pressure regulator, usually on the right side at the end of fuel rail. Make sure the vacuum line is attached and pulls vacuum. Unhook the line. The motor should sound very different and then correct itself when hooking the line back up. If there is no vacuum at the line, check for a broken or cracked area. Never overlook the simple stuff. Also need to check coolant temp sensor accuracy. It can be in tolerance but still read incorrect coolant temp. There are numerous other items that will cause a rich condition but check these first. TJ.
SOURCE: Check engine light (emission system service required) Help?!?!
There may be problem with the mass air flow sensor (very common with Volvo). This causes the fuel system to malfunction.
You may have noticed increased fuel consumption, loss of power and general 'lazyness'.
Better to take it to authorized Volvo service for a checkup/fix.

Hi, the car is winding out due to a vacuum leak. Not sure if the misfire is related or not. I would start at cylinder 1, though. I would check all vacuum lines attached to the intake manifold, especially around #1. Replace any cracked or hardened hoses. If all lines are good, then I would check for an intake manifold leak. With the engine idling, spray some carb cleaner on the intake gaskets especially around cylinder #1. If the engine speed changes, you have a leaky gasket. If none of these ideas panned out, I would start checking the purge valve and other valves along the lines that attach to the intake manifold, but this sounds like a pretty big leak you should find quickly. Please let me know if you have questions or need any instructions, and thanks for using fixya.
Trouble code P0174 means: Fuel System Too Lean (Cylinder 2 bank
P0174 - Fuel Injection System Too Lean Bank 2
Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Excessive Fuel Consumption
Possible causes
- Intake air leaks
- Front Heated oxygen sensor may be faulty
- Injectors may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Lack of fuel
- Mass air flow sensor may be faulty
- Incorrect PCV hose connection
Possible solution
Dirty air filter of faulty air flow sensor are common causes of the problem.
Bottom line possible defective Mass airflow sensor and or O2 sensor in cylinder bank number two.
