What does it mean when there's no water circulation to the upper hose on a 2002 Ford Taurus wagon and is there a lower thermostat for the lower hose that circulates the water from bottom to top?

SOURCE: no heat,ch.thermostat, water is circulating, blower goin strong .

Check the 'heater control valve'. This valve opens when u turn on the heat switch on the dash, so the hot coolant will flow thru the heater core and provide heat. So although the coolant is circulating in the engine, the valve controlling the flow to the heater core is stuck closed, or not working.

SOURCE: Thermostat

follow the upper hose to the housing it goes to and if you see bolts there the thermostat should be under it. make sure to have coolant on hand as you will loose some.

SOURCE: new thermostat,waterpump,coolant,block flushed rad

take the thermostat out and heat it up in a pan of water to see if it will open when it gets hot.
you should see it open when it gets hot.use a cooking thermometer to watch the temp. it should open between 180 and 225 deg.

SOURCE: top hose hot and bottom hose cool...replaced

sounds like your water pump is air bound ( there is a air bubble in your cooling system,or your water pump isn't turning.Bleed the cooling system by jacking car upso the antifreeze fill area is the highest point and run the engineat 1500 rpms add water if it goes down that tell you that the water pump is pulling. Also see if you have a air bleed on the cooling system.Keep the rpms up until you can't add anymore water then put cap back on before returning the engine to normal idle speed.

Seems like the heater core in the dash is clogged. Have you been getting any water on the passenger front floor board? That's an indication the heater core is broke.

If both heater hoses are getting hot, the problem could be a stuck blend door under the dash.
If only one hose is getting hot, there is a blockage in the coolant flow somewhere.

Where is the radiator hose located on a 2004 Ford Taurus

You have an upper hose, and a lower hose and both are attached to the radiator just in front of the engine and lead to the engine. The upper hose leads to the top of the engine where the thermostat housing is located. The loser hose usually go to the water pump near the middle of the engine.

Good luck.

Im trying to replace the lower radiator hose and i was wonder if when it goes to the thermostat housing if it goes to the top or bottom opening the car is a 2000 ford taurus with a 24 valve dohc 3.0 L...

The lower radiator hose is usually connected to the water pump. It's purpose is to draw coolant from the bottom of the radiator and circulate it through the engine and heater. a word of caution, even if you drain the radiator when you loosen the hose there will be a sizeable amount of coolant flowing from that point. Keep a pan handy!!!

Need help locating the thermostat on a 1999 ford taurus station wagon.

Where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine is the thermostat housing. Remove the hose from the housing. Remove the housing, the thermostat will come out with the housing. Be careful to orient the new thermostat exactly the same as the old. If the new thermostat is put in backwards the car will overheat.
Hope this is helpful.

The heat did not work when i got my 98 ford taurus i changed the thermastat, and theres no water in my floor so what could it be?

Heater core could have build up in it and have a restricted flow....thus your heater would not be blowing as hot of air. You should do a pressure test on your cooling system to see if you are loosing any coolant...and where (if your water pump is loosing then you would not be getting the proper circulation).

You can also do a check by starting the engine cold. Grab the upper hose and you should not feel any coolant flowing through it. When the engine begins to get uo to temp the properly working thermostat will open and you will begin to fell coolant flow through the upper hose. When the engine is up to temp your upper and lower hoses should feel hot.
