Yes, if you have the 4-cylinder single cam engine, it is non-interference. Usually the dual cam engines are interference engines in Volvos.

SOURCE: 97sebring 2.5 litre(is it interference or non interference engine

Yes I double Salkim08's solution. Since your motor is made from Aluminum, this could be a big sign that it is an interferance motor. Aluminum expands twice as much as iron. Most old fashion V motors ( v6's V8's) are made with an Iron block and Aluminum heads. But new Transverse motors( sideways front wheel drive motors), block and cylinder head, are made of aluminum.

SOURCE: Is the engine a non interference engine? Trying

Dear Unsure About Timing Belt Replacement......You are CORRECT ...this xterra motor does have whatthey call an interference engine in it.......and yes it does require exact placement and alignment of the cam to crank timing marks. Cam lock stabilizers are invovled for a pain free install of the timing belt.... If you have never done one before I would suggest that this not be your first attempt......try smaller and work up to something like this.......If you do need any more help though please get back to me....thx for your time!!!!!HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

What models have non interference engines

See the catalog from Gates at the link. Models listed with a star have interference engines. Presumably, if there is no star, it is a non-interference engine. http://www.gates.com/~/media/files/gates/automotive/catalogs/automotive/timingbeltreplacementguide.pdf?la=en

Timing belt felll off on highway, will there be a lot of damage 2000 volvos-80

Volvo recommends for Volvo S80, changing the timing belt every 105,000 miles. Needless to say, they are pretty religious about this now.
The B20, B21, B23, and B230 engines are non-interference engines, meaning that the camshaft can be rotated independently of the crankshaft and no damage will result to the engine. That is, if the timing belt breaks, the valves will not hit the pistons; the engine will simply stop.
On the other hand, the B234 16-valve engines and any of the other Volvo multi valve engines are interference engines. Loss of the timing belt in these engines will result in severe or fatal engine damage.
Your car might be fitted with:
2.8L (VIN 90, 6th & 7th digit, B6284T eng, turbo)
2.9L (VIN 94, 6th & 7th digit, B6294S eng)

I have 86,000 miles on my 1993 240 Classic. What is the maintenance schedule and what should be done at this time?

Most car dealers recommend maintenance services at 30K, 60K, 90K and so on. The 30K service is mainly focused in inspection of the systems and replace of the fuel filter.
The 60K is expensive for cars with timing belt. The coolant, transmission oil and filter, and the brake fluid has to be changed. The air filter and spark plugs has to be replaced at this time too.
Most costly is the replacement of the timing belt. Volvo recommends for Volvo 240, changing the timing belt every 50,000 miles.
