If you have MIL get the codes scanned, at least they will help point you at the real cause of the problem. For the moment ignore the VSC warning until the MIL has been successfully diagnosed and cured. Nine times out of ten curing the MIL will resolve the VSC warning.
your o2 sensor is bad. vsc will go on for any small DTC displayed on the MIL (cel)
P0037 LEXUS
P0037 LEXUS - Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 2
Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
Possible causes
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit open shorted to ground - Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit poor electrical connection - Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit - Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit fuse - Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
When is the code detected?
The P0037 is set when the ECM detects an excessively low voltage through the heated oxygen sensor heater circuit
P0037 LEXUS Description
Oxygen Sensors (O2S) or Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) need to reach a minimum operating temperature of 750 degrees F to produce an accurate voltage signal. The faster the heated oxygen sensor reaches that temperature the faster the sensor will start sending an accurate signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
In order to achieve the require temperature, a heater element is included inside the heated oxygen sensor. The ECM controls the heated oxygen sensor heater element based on signals from the engine coolant temperature and engine load. The ECMcontrols the heater element circuit by allowing current flow to ground.
The ECM monitors the voltage signal received through the heater element circuit and determines the state of the circuit by comparing the voltage detected with the factory specifications.
If the MIL (check engine light) is on, the vehicle has stored a fault code. If there is no dealer around to check it, I would recommend picking a OBDII scanner up from your local part store. They are not like the ones dealers and shops use, but it will tell you the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and from there you can track down the issue your vehicle is having.
do you mean the service light or the mil (engine management light? ) you can get a obd2 code reader if its the mil light but be sure to get one that is for VAG codes, if its a vw or one the reads eobd and *** codes for lexus (ebay from £23 )
if its a service light you need not worry too much but you can also get the service reset tool on line
I had check engine light and TRAC OFF. OBD-II MIL code was P1133 which is Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Response Malfunction and scanned by AutoZone. After disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes, the lights went off. I cleaned the gas cap and tightened it firmly. For the last 400 miles, the lights have not come back. When scanning using Snap-on one, no code was detected. I think gas cap was the reason for the lights.
