Somewhere like AutoZone will loan you a fuel rail pressure gauge. Somewhere on it there is a test port. You screw it on, and test in two ways. 1. pressure with the key turned on. 2. Pressure turning over. Compare against specs.

If it is running, you don't need it.

that is the correct diagnosis

did you check the fuel pump relay

are you sure there are two fuel pumps

by this parts diagram says fitment of
2007-2012 mazda CX7..4 cyl turbo
show one fuel pump.including fuel sender

on the other side of the tank a sender .have no idea why ?

on some SUVs two fuel pumps the same pump pressure
and are used because of the tank design
is very thin the the middle .... the two pump lines join together under the chassis somewhere feeding the injector rail

that is only a year old
did it come with the owners glove box hand book

look for a pop off plastic cover on the kick panel
and in the engine bay
CX 5 is the same body shape

I think it is built into fuel pump

Do you have a check engine light on? Is the engine misfiring?

Probably a bad sending unit which is in the fuel tank. If it is always full then the sender is grounded. If always empty means there is an open in the circuit or the senders float is too heavy and will not float.

a flat head should be all you need to pop open the remote and re place the battery
