SOURCE: towing capacity

There are two different hitches available for your vehicle A class I hitch, which is rated to tow up to 2,000 lbs, and a class II hitch which is rated to tow up to 3,500 lbs. Now this is based on the frame. To find out how much you can really tow, you'll have to go to your owners manual.

97 Grand Prix SE Sedan

Class I - #24659 - Installation Instructions
Class II - #36232 - Installation Instructions

97 Grand Prix GT, Coupe & Sedan Inc. GTP Package

Class I - #24660 - Installation Instructions
Class II - #36241 - Installation Instructions

These hitches I've listed are made by Draw-Tite, and you can view them here.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: towing capacity of a Ford 250 5.8 L engine

Towing capacity for any vehicle depends on the engine size along with tire size. the towing capacity should be on the ID tag on the driver's side door and will also be in the owner's manual.

SOURCE: Need wirering diagram to hook up trailer lights and elecric break

Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have a great website with lots of info. With the tow package, there should be a plug under the dash... far left above the emerg. brake petal. The harness that plugs into it should have came with the truck, or you can order one to fit it. Did thew truck come with a 7 pin plug on the back? If not you can order one from the above mentioned site. They also have the wiring colors.

From the information that i have been able to gather your maximum towing capacity is 85-8900lbs. You should always check your owners manual or with the manufacturer for towing capacities.

Towing capacity 2008 dodge dakota v6

Which cab design do you have? The two door cab has a 7,050 lb. maximum towing capacity. The four door cab has a 4,400 lb. maximum tow capacity. The information for towing can be hard to understand. Know that the more weight you place inside the bed, the less weight you can place inside the trailer. It is a balancing act and there is a difference between pull weight and load weight. Also keep in mind weight shift and how important it is that the trailer tongue is level (For braking). The front and rear axle weights are on the driver's door jam. Any questions please write back.

(1) Just bought a pop-up camper for my 2000 f250 super duty crew cab diesel. I'm a little nose up with it on board. (2) I also want to tow a 2-horse trailer and find with the camper on board...

Hello, The hitch extension is available I believe at Tractor Supply. It goes into the receiver just like the normal size receiver parts do and can be changed like current hitches. What you want is a drop hitch with an extension, or an extension that allows any type of hitch to be added to the end.

There are some hitches that have an adjustable drop end, but you will need to do some looking on the Web to find a 1 piece extension with an adjustable drop. You may have to buy a separate extension and plug in a drop hitch.

When you have a height problem between the towing vehicle and the load, sometimes you can change wheels or tire profiles on the trailer or camper to level the load.

Check out Draw-tite, Tractor Supply, and possibly Ranch-Hand products. There may be Hitch parts on sites for Construction trailer equipment.

What size tow ball needed, 2 or 2 1/4,

If you look at the tongue of the trailer it will say what size it needs. I would think you will need a 2 5/16" ball but check to make sure by looking at the tongue.

Towing capacity for an Isuzu I370 pickup

As listed in the owners manual.

Weight of the Trailer
How heavy can a trailer safely be?
It depends on how you plan to use your rig. For
example, speed, altitude, road grades, outside
temperature and how much your vehicle is used to
pull a trailer are all important. It can also depend
on any special equipment that you have on
your vehicle, and the amount of tongue weight the
vehicle can carry. See “Weight of the Trailer
Tongue” later in this section for more information.
Maximum trailer weight is calculated assuming
only the driver is in the tow vehicle and it has all
the required trailering equipment. The weight
of additional optional equipment, passengers and
cargo in the tow vehicle must be subtracted
from the maximum trailer weight.
The following charts show how much your trailer
can weigh, based upon your vehicle model
and options.
2WD Extended Cab Axle Ratio Maximum Trailer Weight GCWR*
Automatic Transmission,
2.9 L Engine 3.73 3,100 lbs (1 406 kg) 7,000 lbs (3 175 kg)
Manual Transmission,
2.9L Engine 3.73 2,100 lbs (952 kg) 6,000 lbs (2 721 kg)
4WD Crew Cab Axle Ratio Maximum Trailer Weight GCWR*
Automatic Transmission,
3.7L Engine 3.73 4,000 lbs (1 814 kg) 9,000 lbs (4 082 kg)
*The Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) is the total allowable weight of the completely loaded
vehicle and trailer including any passengers, cargo, equipment and conversions. The GCWR for your
vehicle should not be exceeded.

Check the taillamp fuse on the truck. If it is blown, you either have a short in the wiring of the camper, or the 7 pin inverter box on the camper.

Towing capacity

While a Grand Prix isn't really designed to tow,the capacity of the car would be 4 adults and luggage. In my estimation, that would equate to roughly 1000 pounds that the car can comfortably haul around. Now,you do have to realize that this is going to be ******* the transmission especially, and the engine secondly.Definitely install an auxiliary transmission cooler to help dissipate the heat from the trans fluid.A close look at the rear suspension and possibly any upgrades there will help out with the tongue weight that a trailer creates.Check and see how much the trailer actually weighs before proceeding.Unlike cars of 30 years ago, that were outfitted with V8,rear wheel drive, truck engines and transmissions, today's cars really aren't the ideal choice to tow with,as a front wheel drive transaxle is pretty light duty.Towing a lawnmower and small trailer,or a jet ski,no problem.A camper trailer would need to be really light, and the other issue might be brakes.Check your brakes really well on your car,as they will also be stopping the weight of whatever you're towing.Good luck.
