With the key off, pull out the relay and use a test light or voltmeter to find the hot terminal in the relay socket. Then use an ohmmeter to find the terminal that goes to the pump. The pump terminal will show a few ohms to ground, whereas the other two terminals will either show zero ohms to ground or will show infinite ohms to ground. Use a short jumper wire between the hot wire and the pump wire.

SOURCE: 1985 Volvo 240 no fuel no spark

well first the fuel pump relay is bad, that is easily replaced. next you have no spark. the first thing you do is take the cap off the distributerand crank the engine. if it spins that tell syou thyat at least the tang or gear on the shaft of the distributor is ok and not broken. next thing is remove the #1 plug and use a 1/4 drive extension 6" long and turn the crank by hand until the #1 cylinder is top dead center(put the extension in the hole of head where the plug was and you should feel the top of the piston also make sure you can feel the top of the piston with half the extension this way you don't drop it in the cylinder with the piston at TDC(top dead center) the rotor of the distributor should be pointed at the #1 firing position. IF it does not that means your timing is off and you need to retime it by taking off timing cover and either replacing the belt/chain or gears. now if you do not have a distributor and you have a coil pack there could be only 2 things that won't give spark. either a bad coil or your altenater is bad(the battery is responsible for starting not running the vehicle like alot of people assume. the altenator energizes the coil which inturngives spark. hope this helps you please rate this thanks

SOURCE: fuel pump or fuel pump relay on 1989 Chevy Suburban 1500 4x4

the relay and fuse are in the power distribution box under the hood. as far a by pass you still can use an aftermarket electric pump ,however the cost will be about the same as re3moving the old pump in the tank if that is the cause in the first place. if all you need is the relay replaced then i'm sure that the pump is still good. if the pump is bad then make sure if you by pass the in tank pump that the new under hood electric pump has enough pressure to give the needed gpm(gallons per minute) required for your system and that if wired into the current fuel circuit that you dissconnect the wire harness to your tank pump

Just change the fuel pump on a 2004 Buick Rendezvous and now there's no power to the fuel pump

The pump is energized from the PCM by applying battery voltage to the control side of the pump relay.

The contact side of the relay is fed battery voltage via fuse F1 (under hood fuse block)

You can bypass the pump relay or probe the relay control side for the presence of power and ground.

Bypass fuel pump relay

Bypassing the fuel pump relay has potentially serious safety implications and is something only suitable for testing fuel system pressures or to be done in an emergency to start a dead car only when not doing it is potentially more dangerous than doing it.

Bypassing the fuel pump relay is not for the inexperienced and if a person asks the question how, that person is clearly not experienced. Data books providing fuel injection test data often include diagrams and how-to instructions.

Fuel pump relay bypass 2004 chev malibue

There is none, the relay is controlled by the PCM and that is a safety factor. If there is a collision that deploys the airbags, the PCM shuts off the pump.

How do i bypass fuel system relay for 2000 chevy silverado lt

Why would you want to bypass a fuel system relay? Are you talking about a fuel pump relay? There are reasons for such relays, and one of the reasons is to STOP pumping fuel if there is an accident!

How To bypass the Fuel Pump Relay

Don't bypass the fuel pump relay . power to the relay comes from the ignition switch on start cycle .when the engine is running the oil pressure switch takes over the circuit .so if you crash and the engine .stops so does the pump . If the fuel line brakes a bypassed pump will keep pumping spraying fuel and you could burn.

Not getting fuel - the fuel system is clear but the relay is not turning on the pump - if I bypass the relay the pump turns on

Replace the relay. Probably runs around $12. If your bypassing by using a direct hot instead of bypassing off the relay hot trace the hot side of the relay all the way back till you find the break.

Engine turns over, but no fuel pressure at relief valve.

Check the fuse to the fuel pump.
The issue is repeated blowing of the fuel pump fuse. This occurs randomly and without warning, normally when medium to high throttle is applied. Generally the RPM's will fluctuate briefly before the fuse blows, which cuts off ALL power to the vehicle.
Especially dangerous on a highway! The first mechanic found a TSB related to the fuel pump resistor, and its default location in the wheel well can cause premature corrosion. Replaced it and relocated as per the TSB.
You can bypass the resistor, it's simple and free. You bend pin 85 on the fuel pump relay #15, in your engine bay fuse and relay box. Good luck and keep me posted, at worst ti's going to be a bad fuel pump and your going to have to drop the gas tank to replace the fuel pump. When you bend the #85 pin from the relay, will set the fuel pump on high mode bypassing the resistor.
