SOURCE: 2004 3.8 Chevy impala sensor

The crankshaft positions sensor is located behind the crankwheel on the passenger side of the engine. In order to replace it or at least examine it, a person would need to remover the crankwheel with a puller that can be rented out at Autozone. Just ask for a harmonic balancer puller. Remove the front right tire and place firmly on jackstands. The crankshaft pulley WILL NOT loosen by just turning the bolt. This is a two person job. Caddycorner to the starter, there is a small plastic plate cover that covers the driveplate/flexplate. Remove the two bolts and pull the cover off. Have one person position a screwdriver into the ring gear teeth and have another remove the pulley bolt. Its EXTREMELY TIGHT and the best way to remove it is with a large rachet and a breaker bar. Once the bolt is removed, take the puller and position accoridngly. The threaded holes are not on the surface but inside the pulley itself. Place large bolt in center of the puller and place the pointed or flat tip on center of the large bolt and place. Take three very small screws or bolts that came with the puller and position all three in place. Once all this is done begin turning the bolt in the middle of the puller clockwise. This will take alot of arm strength and anywhere from 15-30 min to do. Once the wheel has come off, carefully pry off the sensor cover which is another piece of plactic. Once the cover is off, carefully remove the sensor and examine or replace as needed. Installation is reverse of removal. Hope this helps

It is on the left rear of the engine, below the oil filter. It picks up its signal off the crankshaft throw.

I have a 2010 chevy aveo. The signal relay for the turn signal clicks constantly when not using the flashers or the blinkers. I replaced the relay and it still clicks. not sure what is causing this.

It may be a grounding problem in the wiring.. probably the turn signal switch that is located inside the steering column..These switches have plastic parts that can crack and close a circuit. You need a dealer repair as there are various sensors and sensitive wiring inside the column that controls deployment of the air bag.

Crankshaft sensor location chevy traverse 09

I spent hours in engine and on the internet. I viewed 15 different sites with 15 different answers. Finally found it...The crankshaft position sensor on a 2009 Chevy Traverse (3.6 liter) is as follows: You need to jack up vehicle (or useramps) and climb under. You CANNOT access it from top (as many sites state). On the firewall (vehicle) side of motor, in the center, directly below the exhaust outlet, you will see a silver (aluminum) heat cover/plate. It is held on by 2 bolts. (one 15mm and one 10mm). The sensor is located benind this cover. Once you get this cover off, you will see two seperate sets of wires, wrapped in silver heat deflection tape. The set of wires that extends further to the left go to th CPS (sensor). I used a small extendable automotive mirror to see it. It is in a tight spot, but once you find it, it is easier to access than it looks!!! Took me about 30 minutes total to switch it out. Hope this helps !!! Good luck.
