check the wires behind the seat control on the side if the seat, sometimes the wires will get pinched and short to ground

SOURCE: How to remove a 2003 GMC Sierra water pump

I personaly dont see many water pump gaskets leak, but instead there is a weep hole that they leak from when they wear out. they are designed this way. which is common. reason it may leak with ignition off is now the pressure builds up verses being cycled through the engine and doesnt reall have time to squirt out.and it just finds a way out with engine off which would be your weep hole most likely.

Its not hard to fix or replace water pumps on the gas engines. there should be the large A/C and powersteering bracket that can be removed and sometimes if you dont have clearence the alternater bracket. its not very hard. basic tools work just fine. the only thing that may be alittle hard is the fan nut. you will need a large wrench and something to stop the pully from spining while loosening and tightening that nut. should take about 2 hours or so. IIRC13mmm, 15mm bolts, 9/16 bolts and 10mm and 8mm bolts. that all you need.other than the large wrench. pipe wrench will work but you need something to prevent the pulley from movning. thats very important.

Good luck. I hope i answered your question.

SOURCE: hi...2008 gmc sierra crew...check engine light

Sounds like an oil pressure problem. The clacking sound is most likely the lifters are collapsing due to loss of oil pressure. You may have a failing oil pump.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak, A dry rotted hose with cracks is usually the problem. Listen from where the sound is coming from and you will be able to pin point a small area of vacuum lines. Good Luck

I have a 2000 gmc with a 4.8L. I noticed coolant leaking out of the resivoir bottle today onto the ground. I also have a small surge at low speed. All happened on the same day. Coolant seems to have oil in...

possible thermostat stuck...are you running 60/40 mix in cold temps? oil may be from tranny cooler lines..may have leaked thru to antifreeze..hopefully freezing temp didnt expand walls of radiator and crack it allowing oil in coolant. Cooling system flush recommended

2000 gmc sierra 1500 V-8, 4.8liter automatic. oil severely leaking from back of block in between block and flywheel. oil gushes out during acceleration

Between the rear of the block and the transmission is just a couple of things that may be leaking, but make sure thats where it's coming from, and not running from somewhere else...
Your crankshaft rear min seal, they get hardened after yearsm and some can cut a small groove in the end of the crank and leak. They make a "speedi-sleeve" to repair that. The other idea is the camshaft plug, which is like a freeze out plug, but these are not as common.

My 2000 gmc sierra is leaking oil on my driveway more than normal

It's not good to Switch back to Regular oil after using Synthetic. Use the High Mileage oil. It will help a Little. Still Cheaper to replace a Gasket or two than a Rebuild. Got 214,000 + Miles on my 95' Silverado and No Leaks with High Mileage Valvoline 10-40.

clean hole thoughrally sp?, sand w/ 220 grit sandpaper, and put jb weld on hole let sit at least over night. color of oil sounds like you may have a little water mixed in with oil, change oil. water mat have entered through hole.
