When you put incorrect fluid into a transmission it is absorbed by the clutch material (yes there are multiple clutches inside)...therefore it may not be possible to restore proper operation without replacing all internal friction material.
One thing though: When you drop the pan to remove the oil, you are only changing about half of it.(the remainder is inside the torque converter) If you change it multiple times, permitting it to idle, then changing shift positions, you can reduce the concentration of incorrect fluid by doing so. You don't need to replace the filter or the gasket while doing this, and don't even need to pay attention to any minor pan leaks. It will require a lot of oil though. If near-normal operation does not return after three changes I'd give up. If it does get better, do it one more time and add some lucas additive in the final change, then service again in about 4,000 miles. The length of time driven and miles you drove before finding your mistake are important. If either are more than one day or a few miles, don't bother, and just have the unit rebuilt. One thing for sure is that you will never make that mistake again!!!
Good luck!

Can you change transmission fluid on a manual transmission if so how

'Transmission Fluid' in a manual transmission vehicle is called 'gearbox oil'. On the gearbox, there is a drain plug in the bottom somewhere and a fill plug on the side. You drain, clean the drain plug, replace the copper washer and put the drain plug back in. Fill the gearbox with oil until the oil starts to weep out of the filling hole. Replace the fill plug.

year make model change gearbox oil

Please include 'year make model' in all questions in this category. Thanks.

Manual gearboxes usually require a gearbox oil change every 30,000 to 50,000 mi (48,000 to 80,000 km). Automatic gearboxes usually have gear oil change intervals of between 60,000 to 100,000 mi (96,000 to 160,000 km). It's advisable that you change your gearbox oil filter at the same time as your oil.

My Nissan Serena 2004 model automatic is having problems with the crank shaft sensor. I have just put a new one, the car worked 4 a day, now it can't start, just cranking. what could be the problem?

Poss erratic signal to the crank sensor, oil leak on the sensor itself is a popular one for Nissan. Make sure u have a good electrical connection, water & oil free. Good luck

HOW CAN I FIX A GEARBOX OF AN AUTOMATIC NISSAN B14

Auto boxes are best left to professionals but there are some things you can do 1) check that the selector rod from beneath the gear shift to the gear selector on the side of the gear box is correctly adjusted, 2) make sure that the transmission oil is at the right level, new oil can be added via the dip stick tube. If you are adventurous and are able to remove the gearbox pan you might be to see evidence of the gear box damage, metal shavings etc. If you can remove the gearbox you may be able to replace a sheared splined input shaft (indicated by a an engine that is running but that will simply not engage gear). Anything repairs beyond this should be left to an expert or simply replace the gearbox

Whats the timing for the nissan sr20 motor in my 96 serena van.. cheers weetbix

GA16DE and SR20DE Engines

1. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
2. Run the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes and return to idle.
3. Turn the engine OFF and disconnect the throttle position sensor harness connector.
4. Start the engine and race the engine to 2000 rpm, 3 times.
5. Connect a timing light to the No. 1 spark plug wire and battery.
6. Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt and adjust the ignition timing to 10 degrees BTDC for the GA16DE and 15 degrees for the SR20DE engines.
7. Turn the engine OFF and reconnect the throttle position sensor harness.
