When was the last time you checked the transmission fluid level? It might be that time now.

SOURCE: 2000 Subaru Outback transmission problem

After a good deal of research and several shops suggesting a rebuild of the transmission, I decided to have the trans fluid and filters changed before doing anything. It was a tough call because it could have been a waste of $125. As soon as the spin off filter was removed you could see it was blocked. So the hydraulic pressure in the system was way down, still enough to engage reverse and enough to work all the shifts, but not enough to engage forward without a slight tap on the accelerator.

My Subaru has 240 000 km on it and I suppose the clutch pack rebuild wouldn't hurt, but as it is now it engages quickly and shifts up are noticeably smoother.

May not be the solution for every case, but it solved my situation.

SOURCE: 1994 Ford Crown Vic comes out of gear just driving

Hi

First thing to check is the fluid. If the fluid is fine, it sounds like you have internal transmission damage. Get the computer scanned to fetch the diagnostic code from the local dealer.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept this "particular" solution.

When cluch is pushed in makes chattering noise. pilot bushing?

It could be a worn pilot bushing. Or a bad pressure plate with a weak or broken spring. Looks like the transmission will have to be removed to investigate. You might as well put in a whole new clutch package as well.

Van sometimes makes a chattering sound from stopped position at light when pushing gas to accelerate then catches and goes

Sounds like an internal transmission issue. The clutches may be chattering. Check the fluid level first but if that is good, get it to a reputable trans shop for diagnosis.

Hello john, sounds like you are having a converter lockup problem. The clutch packs may also be worn causing low pressures. Pressure test can be run to determine. Sometimes adding a a non-solvent formula additive such as Lucas transmission fix will help. It's been known to stop slipping in worn transmissions.
