Your steering wheel is locked in place. You need to put the key into the ignition, then turn the steering wheel more towards the way it is already turned and try turning the key then in the ignition. The steering wheel should move ever so slightly and it should free up the ignition. Let me know how this turns out.

Did the tow truck driver move the steering wheel and with the key in the ignition, start the car up?
Try hardly pulling the wheel in both directions while try to reove the key. Also the Shifter lever also plays a big role in the ignition lock. Otherwise last resort would to replace ignition swicth.

Thanks for your reply.
In the first sentence you advised trying to pull the wheel in both directions while trying to remove the key. To clarify my description of this problem, as I stated my husband did remove the key from the ignition when he initially parked the car and curbed the wheels. (see initial posting). So the problem is not to remove the key, but when we put the key in the ignition, the key will not turn and the steering wheel seems locked.
Any other assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, I did not receive this in time. I called AAA and they sent out a tow truck for my car.
The driver was able to unlock the steering wheel and start the car.
Sorry I got this advice a little too late.
