I have a 2013 ford expedition and I cannot turn off my traction control when I need to. I push the button and it wont turn off

Owner's manual. Most models you have to hold the button in while at a complete stop

Alexandre, check in your owners manual for small off button on the shifter under the large engage button. If you do not want traction control on in your vehicle check your manual for traction control fuse location and remove fuse. I can not say this is a wise thing to do, because your traction control is a safety feature for your vehicle. ABS braking system will be lost if you pull the fuse also. Pulling the fuse will disable abs, traction and stability control. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

The traction control if equipped should always be on unless you deactivate it with the traction off button. If it is deactivated, a light will illuminate on the dash informing you the system is disabled.

Should be a button on the dash that you can push that will turn it back on.

I would verify that it is in fact the traction control light. Could it be the tire pressure monitoring system? If the tire pressure is low then this light would come on. If it is the traction control, it could be that you have pressed a switch to keep it off ( some vehicles have this for trying to get out of snow-- check your manual). I doubt this second option since it would normally say "traction control off" right on the light.
It could also be a computer fault that you could reset by unhooking the positive battery cable for 5 minutes. If that doesn't work, it probably needs the dealer.

The light comes on and goes off when you start the engine as a test. If the light comes back on, there is a problem and you need to get the body computer scanned for trouble codes. The traction control uses the engine and ABS braking system to work.

Hi James, The gear changes on modern vehicles is often controlled by speed sensors mounted onto each wheel. The sensors also control the ABS, traction control and activate the speedo. Have a diagnostic scan carried out and determine if the sensors are all in working condition. Regards John
