6 cyl sport model cranks but want start. fuel pump runs when jumped out , coil rail resistance values are within parameters.changed spark plugs, checked wiring ,plug connectors etc." no bus" read out on inst cluster . hooked scanner to obd 2 port and got a "no link" reading. also have a key symbol with a circle and slash thru it on inst cluster . what checks can i do to narrow down the cause. looking for tech info to help . I am thinking possible computer or skim module are transponder ring or the key etc HELP PLEASE
Dont worry about wire checks at this point. If the "no bus" message went away after disconnecting the sensor, then the sensor is bad. Replace the crank sensor and all will be good in the world again.
With the key on and drivers door open, disconnect the crankshaft position sensor. You may hear the chimes, buzzers and other things come to life. Check your cluster to see if the gauges are reading normal again. If all that happens, replace the crankshaft position sensor. If nothing happens, continue disconnecting other engine control sensors. I've seen this problem on the 4.7 and 4.0 engines and it has always been the crank sensor pulling the communication bus down. Without the bus the modules can't communicate with each other, so without an "ok to start" signal the PCM won't allow the vehicle to start. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your tech help I will let you know if the sensor fixes my problem as soon as I get it back on was a lot of "FUN" getting it off
