I expect the master lock that sends the signal to the other locks is malfunctioning, the master lock is usually in the drivers door, can the doors be locked from the switch inside the vehicle, or does the same thing happen ?
the rear door latches on these cars are unreliable, they both may have failed, and you may not have noticed that one had failed before the other, replace one side and if it works you have your answer to the problem. change the other side also. hope this helps you.
had a similar problem with a hyundai coupe , this turned out to to be the door lock mechanism in the drivers door, so could be the place to start, as i would have thought that generally the power locking technology is the same universally
This is accomplished through the use of door lock actuators. If it is only 1 door, it is most likely that the door lock actuator has failed. It is not uncommon. These can be purchased through Ford or Jaguar and is something you can do yourself depending on your ability.
You have something broke or not working inside the door. You have a huge problem. You will need to remove the door panel with it closed which is going to be hard to do. Once you can get into the inside of the door you will be able to inspect the linkage and figure what is the real problem inside. The door lock assembly will never work correctly till you find out if a clip broke and you can't know that till looking inside
I had the same problem with mine it was the door latch assembly. Replaced it with a used one and was ok for about 2 month the second one was a new one and have had no further issues.
