2004 Sebring convertible 2.7 alternator blew 2 days ago on trip. In local shop. New one installed. Appears to have taken out part of line that control 4 O2 sensors. Anyone see this before?

Local dealer said they had heard of this but has no experience with that issue

If it happened after you got it from the dealer and you spent that enourmous amount of money for replacing two items which alone would cost around around $300, well... let them fix it free of charge. now unless warranty for the labor and parts has expired, then i suggest doing the wiggle test on the electrical wires on your car while engine on.(be very careful with moving parts and loose clothing) wiggle wires that connect to any electrical part in the car see if it shuts off on you. the only other thing i can think of is replacing your fuel filter and checking your fuel pump..

Codes alone don't tell you what to replace. I assume you mean catalytic converter. The converter should last the 10 to 15 years if nothing damages it. You now need to continue on and see why the o2 codes were set. The local shop should be able to take care of it. Just be there and be part of the process, so you know what work to approve. Don't take the vehicle back untill you go for a road test and see the codes are gone ,with the scanner on the veh. Take the scanner on the road trip

After replacing the new O2 sensor, the codes need to be cleared to turn of the check engine light. it sounds to me that they only installed the sensor and because in that moment the check engine light was off they didn't erase the code. Yes I think your car is safe to make those trips, but you should take the car to the workshop so they can erase the code whenever you can.

How easy is installing a expandable freeze plug on a 2004 Chrysler Sebring 2.7 6 cylinder lxi convertible

depending which one is being replaced usually not bad. however some require a frost plug install tool that has a flex able head to get into tight spaces. it maybe best to have a shop replace it as it makes a mess.

Why do i need a new transmission with only 120,000 km?

Transmissions are only new one time, off the assy line

Yours is rebuilt locally or you install a reman

I never saw that happen years ago when I owned a trans shop

Doesn't matter what happened you need at least a new case

I would install a factory reman or one from Jasper Engine & Transmission

A few days ago the check engine light turn on in my 2004 Chrysler Sebring and I got the code P0137. The light went off the next day but I still took the car into the dealer and they changed out the O2...

COULD HAVE SHORT IN WIRING CIRCUIT OR PCM PROBLEMS.IT WOULD NOT BE SAFE TO DRIVE CAR WITH O2 SENSOR FAULT. BECAUSE FUEL MIXTURE WOULD BE TOO RICH CAUSING CATALYTIC CONVERTER DAMAGE CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT GET RED HOT UNDER CAR CAUSE FIRE AND YOU WOULD HAVE A LOT OF FUEL CONSUMPTION .I WOULD NOT DRIVE CAR.BETTER TO USE A RENTAL CAR FOR LONG TRIP GET CAR CHECK OUT AGAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP.

I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring convertable, Problem: enging starts up nice everythings seems to be working but when I attempt to shift in to any gear the engine abruptly shuts off. [Edit]

Hi!!
Your problem is most likely the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid valve. Check Fuse and Related wiring, if all looks OK, remove transmission pan to get to the TCC Solenoid. The solenoid packs are known to leak. You will need to remove:
  • The transmission cooling lines
  • the Speed Sensor,
  • the plug on the solenoid block,
  • the 3 tenmm bolts on the top of the Solenoid pack,
  • the solenoid pack,
  • old gasket (the new pack comes with new gasket)

Install
  • The new Solenoid Pack,
  • the new gasket ,
  • the Speed Sensor and,
  • Transmission Cooling Lines

Start vehicle, check Transmission fluid level, check for proper shifting and have computer reset.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Volts lights comes one; changed battery 3 days

have your alternator output checked. its a good idea that they check it while the light is ON. If they check it while the light is OFF, it may not show any problem.

Chrysler Sebring 2004 Convertible Bad Battery Charge Problems

I would look at the alternator. I had a grand am that would do that to me, even with a brand new battery. The alternator output wasn't able to run the vehicle and charge the battery. Alternators are picky things, especially being in Canada (which I assume from the KM), the hot and cold cycles don't play nicely with the brushes and core. I'd have the alternator checked and replaced if needed.

2001 Sebring Convertible Starter Fuse Problem

The reason that you are blowing fuses is that your starter is drawing too much current. This usually means that the starter is failing (too much internal resistance). By increasing the size of the fuse yoiu are running more current through the wires than they are designed to handle. This can melt the insulation and maybe start a fire.
