Security light flash no security system on truck

Is there a red light on in the instrument cluster when the truck fails to start? If so, then the security system is setting a code that shuts down the starting system because it sees the truck being stolen. May want to check for security system trouble codes.

Sounds like the Remote has Bypassed the Security System and once started, the Immobilizer is then become inoperative seeing that it got it's input from the Remote System itself.

Now when you attempt to start the truck with the KEY ONLY, it will not start. Look at the "Security" light when you are turning it over... Is it flashing or does it turn On or is it Completely Off?

Here is what I would do... Try your Other Key, if the SECOND KEY works, then your key has failed. If NEITHER KEY works, then your Immobilizer CODE is gone and for some reason as the REMOTE has bypassed the system it is allowing your to operate the truck.

When did the problem start to occur?

you need to get a new ign. lock cylinder and chip key. Or you can get a lock cylinder and copy your old key with a regular key no chip. Take new cylinder, put old chip key in it. Plug into harness at the bottom of steering column just behind the dash, fine orange wire from existing one in the column. Hide lock cylinder under dash and start car with copy of old key.

The probably installed an overlay harness past the SKIM module it think the car it being hot wired it is a security feature. They need the install the interlock system prior to the SKIM module to keep it from locking up.

does it start at all, or does it run for about 1 second and shut off? if the latter, then it's the passlock system, and he could have a defective key or security module. the keys have a predetermined resistance value which activates the passlock system to prevent hotwiring. If it is the passlock system, then sometimes you have to wait 15-20 mins for it to reset before starting the engine.

You need to reprogram the security system. Hook up a battery charger. Turn the key on, the security light should flash. Leave the key on until the light stops flahing.(11 minutes) Turn the key off for 20 sec. Turn the key on, do the same thing a second time, turn the key off. Turn the key on. Do this a third time. After the third 11 minutes and the light is off, Start the truck.

your ignition switch is bad for now though turn your key on for at least ten minutes until the light stops flashing this will reset your security system after stops flashing turn key off and then start the truck

Make sure your hood is shut. I just got my 2002 Honda Odyssey back from the dealer today (90,000 mile check-up - I love my van and will drive it until it dies!) and when I went to lock the van with my remote transmitter, the lights didn't flash and the horn didn't sound. I open and closed all the doors and tailgate and I could hear that the doors were locked, but the security system wasn't working and that is why the lights didn't blink or the horn didn't sound. I walked up to the front of the van to check the hood to make sure it was closed (there isn't an indicator light for an open hood, only open doors) and the hood wasn't shut completely. Once I opened the hood and let it drop to securely shut, I hit the door lock button on the remote and everything worked like a charm! Hope this helps others in this predicament.
