I have a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. How many quarts of synthetic transmission fluid do I need. Or should synthetic fluid be used in this model.
Dealership just recently replaced my transmission with a used salvaged transmission and charged me $198.61 for synthetic transmission fluid. I believe my car only holds 4 quarts of transmission fluid. Is this an outrageous fee or what?

GM now recommends dextron 6 or VI in all automatic transmissions. It is a synthetic transmission fluid that was introduced in 2006.They no longer license or police the making of dextron 3 or III that was originally installed in your car. This is why you now find dextron III / Mercon because manufacturers are now combining the specs of both Ford and GM into one fluid.Dextron VI is compatible with all dextron II and dextron III fluids. It is more expensive because it is synthetic.Runs about $4-$6 a quart. You can still use dextron III but GM states you never know what you are getting.Well hope this helps.
each make and model seems to use its own fluid but you can use a universal full synthetic thats works with every kind of car you can get it at any local parts store
There is no dipstick for the forenza auto tranny. It is checked like a
manual tranny. You have toremove the fill plug and add some untill it
drizzels out. Also it uses a special fluid that you can only get at the
dealer......
And it also uses a special tool to do it with
.
Suzuki uses expensive silica based fluid meant for import cars. At the
dealer they charge 18.00 a quart. If you mix the wrong fluid in it,
you'll ruin your tranny.
There is no dipstick for the forenza auto tranny. it is checked like a manual tranny. you have toremove the fill plug and add some untill it drizzels out. The plug is behind the lower transmission mount. You either need to jack the car up high or use a lift, Use a 3/8 inch extension to make the tool to remove it. You must have the car running and warmed up to check it, shift through the gears, then put it back into park, remove the plug (while running) and fill to it comes out, then put the plug back in (still running), and you should be good. Make sure you use the correct transmission fluid.
there is no dipstick stupid suzuki the only way to check trans fluid is to crawl under the car and remove the filler plug from the transmission check to make sure the fluid is to the brim of the hole there is a diagram in the manual page 5-11 hope this helps
there is no dip stic on the forenza no need to go to the dealer and pay for it simply jack the entire car off the ground enough to get yourself under it make sure u support it with appropriate stands. you can check the fluid by removing the plug from the side of the trans u will need a special tool for this u can get from an auto parts store after removing the plug check to make sure the fluid is right to the brim of the plug hole then turn the car on and shift through the gears R,D,1,2,4 and then back again hold in each gear for about 5 sec then turn the car off crawl back under and check again . if low add a little at a time until its filled u can get a small hand pump with a tube on it from auto store u put this in a quart of trans fluid makes the job alot easier . as for the other problem it is you Trans range sensor $65 dollars from the dealer or $45 from OEMsuzukiparts.com not very hard to change Hope this helps
