I am needing scematics for a 1988 dodge 3/4 ton electric fuel pump. We have the fuel pump pulled out and just need to get it connected correctly from the relay and how to put it back together.

Have you checked the fuel filter and lines. If the pump is working you can here it when the ignition is first turned on (not started) for a couple of seconds.

Check battery side power & grounds ,
at the pump

Best if you work off wiring diagrams

1988 Dodge Truck Dakota 2WD 2.2L 2BL 4cylThe Fuel Pump Relay is located:Under hood, driver side, rear engine area, above wheelwell, relay block mounted on fender.Your relay sends power to fuel pump,check with meter to see if power is going to fuel pump relay.

An electric fuel pump should be near the fuel tank. They are made to push fuel not pull fuel.

The relay for the fuel pump is under the hood but most likely the fuel pump itself. One way to check is use a test light at the tank it should have three wires one is sending unit one is ground and third is hot turn the key and check for power or if you like you can check by putting a screwdriver to the tank and the other end to your ear turn the key on and listen for humming.

yes you have to remove tank and filler hose connections and any wire connectors most pump attach with a c-clamp with is hit off with a hammer and drift then you can just pull out pump.

Buy a chilton manual for a 88 3/4 ton truck it will have a wire diag. or trace pump wires up from fuel tank.

disconnect the battery,drop the gas tank,disconnect the hoses and wiring harness,get tank out in front of you,take out sending unit take off pump,replace is opposite of removal

you should swap complete engines and ecus i have seen this set up installed in a 1938 dodge truck so yes it can be done
