2006 Dodge Stratus loses power going up hills. When you press on gas during the incline the motor revs up like in neutral. When you get to the top of the hill power comes back when you accelerate.
Hi Rena Tressler-Downs, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? This is a transmission issue. If you have manual transmission, your clutch is slipping--replace clutch and pressure plate. If you have automatic trans, have torque converter and bands checked by transmission shop.Hi Rena Tressler-Downs, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. I would check that all of my vacuum lines in the engine compartments are on and secure. Also inspect the routing of the vacuum lines. When you go up a hill the motor rocks on the motor mounts. there are three motor mounts if one is worn it could be a source of the problem. But more than likely during spark plug replacement vacuum lines were unplugged and put back on with different routing causing pinching or kinking when the motor rocks going up hill under power.
i have an 86 dodge ram 50 that sputters when i step on gas going up hill after it warms up ive changed the gasket twice with no luck solving problem it runs fine in neutral but in gear under a load it sputters
Heater core is a possibility, and monitoring your coolant level closely should tell you if it is leaking as level will go down. As far as hesitation goes, if check engine light comes on, a trip to autozone or Pep boys for a free trouble code scan, should point everyone in right direction rather than replacing parts by guessing. (much cheaper that way too)
How slight was the hill and how much weight did you have in your car? When you got power back was it because you were no longer on the hill or were you going downhill? You may just need to drop down a gear to get the power back, if you have a heavy car even slight hills can cause it to lose power especially if your in top gear. You have a "sports transmission" option (I'm pretty sure it's on all the DSG transmissions) you just need to move it across to the +/- bit and move the stick to the - to go down a gear. Otherwise you'd have to wait until your auto decides it's lost enough revs to go down a gear. Which is why I hate autos. Otherwise it could be bad fuel or something wrong with the turbo.
umm yea you are having a miss fire in one of the cylinders and that is when the engine light flashes i would not drive the car you could damage the catalytic converter and that is not a good thing the repair is alot
