2004 Taurus. Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Coil Packs replaced. Still misfiring, loss of power, light turning on. 5 days this week it's happened. At the shop for the 4th time. Alternator has checked out ok. Computer has checked out ok. Shop doesn't seem to have an answer.
I think its the ecu, i had misfire codes come up in my 06 explorer, changed everything like you did, it was the ecu, i got one on ebay with keys for 150, it worked, also ford systems require a fully charged battery

These codes will have to be cleared and the car driven through a drive cycle, maybe a couple of times, is the check engine light off? Also you should check your MAF sensor it may need to be cleaned or replaced and makes sure there are no holes in your intake tubing. Hope this helps, let me know.

P0304 = #4 cyl
A very common problem is a bad COP or coil. They can be expensive ($75? at part store), so you could try switching the coil with another cylinder and see if the code changes location with the coil.
They are easy to replace. Unplug the connector. Remove the one screw (8mm?). Pull straight out.

i would check the plug wires and the coils you check the plug wires for bad spots at night start the motor up and look at the plugs if you see a spark arch out the wire and to a peace of metal then the plug wires need to be replace.

So your codes are: Multiple random plus misfires on 1,4,8. Misfire during startup, and ignition coil E (cyl 5) primary or secondary circuit malfunction.
You said that four new coils were installed. Perhaps the coil to spark plug order and the firing order have been scrambled. The spark plug wires may be old and leaky--especially if they are the originals from 2003. You could have a vacuum leak into the intake manifold, the EGR valve could be sticking open when it should be closed, the fuel filter could be clogged, the fuel pump pressure could be too low or stuck at the idle setting, the fuel injectors could be dirty, and cylinder compression could be low (putting on the wrong size o-rings when reinstalling injectors will prevent proper compression.)

Have your crank shaft sensor tested.
hope this help.

Hi
P0305 is misfire in cylinder #5.
P0306 is misfire in cylinder#6.
P0316 is misfire on start up.
Have the plugs on those 2 cylinders, and the 2 fuel injectors checked, also
check for spark from the coil on those 2 plug wires.
Please get back to us if you have further query or else please
accept the solution.
