Brett,

Likely it is a brake light that is on. Brake lights can actuate with the ignition off, usually by pressing the brake pedal. Test the lights, brake and turn signal circuits, but my bet is a brake light switch out of adjustment.

2005 ford escape rear tail lights stay on

Sounds like the brake lights are staying on, which is probably a faulty brake light switch on the pedal.

On my 1991 Nissan pickup, the tail lights stay on even with ignition and light switch turned off. It's drained the battery so my only solution is to remove the bulbs. Any suggestions ?

Are you sure it is the tail lights, or could it be the brake lights? If it is the tail lights, the light switch should be replaced. If it is the brake lights, there is a switch operated by the brake pedal whitch could be stuck or otherwise inoperative and should be replaced.

Tail lights stay on

Check the brake light switch attached to the top of the brake pedal. (It will be up under the dash and might be hard to see.) This switch activates the brake lights when the brake pedal moves or allows to move a button on the switch. If the switch gets out of position, the brake lights might not operate properly.

Another possibility is that the switch is bad.

1999 Toyota Corolla Seca - hatchback. the tail

If you put your foot on the brake, the tail lights and parking lights will still come on. Possibly your brake is sticking. Check to see if it is and if it is put WD40 for a quick fix. See a tech for them to fix your brake alignment. Good Luck!
