Anti theft system activated has to be reset with scan tool or key on 30 min off back on 30 min off back on 30 min off then start . need a battery charger hooked up powering battery for this method so it dosnt die and car will start. Also if you have remote keyless entry. Try driver window down and key on engine off doors all shut with remote lock car doors then reach in and open door ...does alarm sound? If so remove key from ignition (turn ignition off) close door put key in drivers door lock and turn key to lock door and then turn to unlock door ....alarm now off ? Then try to start car . also may have tripped the fuel cut off switch if equipped....look in trunk for shut off switch or kick panel passanger side front about where passanger feet would be the small trim panel under glove box also may need removed some where if your car is equipped you will find a black box about 4 inch tall by 3 inch wide and 2 inch thick with a round red button on top if you press this red button and feel it click then there is the problem ...fuel cut off is now reset try starting it again.
not sure about the door... but a valet key is just that. it should allow a 'valet', person other than you, to drive your car without having access to any storage areas. therefore you can lock valuables in the trunk. the system should also disable any electronic trunk switches with that key in the ignition.
it may work out cheaper to have a locksmith cut new keys for you, talk to one & explain the situation & see what can be done, if you change the ignition switch you will have to change all the door locks & the trunk lock as well.........hope this helps......cheers.
If your key is worn try getting a new one cut. The ignition lock cylinder and keys do not contain any
coded electronic components. The lock cylinder housing contains the coded
electronic components. Changing an ignition lock cylinder or replacing a key
is a purely mechanical process which does not affect the vehicle theft deterrent
system. To replace an existing key, simply cut a new key to match the existing
one. If no keys are available, the lock cylinder must be changed.
To change the lock cylinder, simply replace the existing lock cylinder with
one of the same type. If you are unable to operate the ignition cylinder with a new key then you will probably need to replace the cylinder and switch.Replacement of the switch involves reprogramming The system may be programmed with or without a scan tool. There is a way to get the cylinder out without replacing the switch but this procedure should be performed by a qualified GM technician as it involves removal of the switch and some precise drilling.
program transmitter code(s) as follows: 1) Confirm that all the doors are closed and the ignition key is out of the ignition cylinder. 2) Open the driver’s door. Insert the key and turn the ignition switch to ON position within 10 seconds. 3) Turn the ignition switch to OFF position within 10 seconds, remove ignition key from lock cylin-der. 4) Push and release the driver’s door switch (1) 3 times within 20 seconds. 5) Insert the ignition key and turn the ignition switch to ON position within 10 seconds. 6) Turn the ignition switch to OFF position within 10 seconds, remove ignition key from lock cylin-der. 7) Press and hold both LOCK and UNLOCK buttons (2) on the transmitter (3) for more than 5 seconds within 20 seconds of removing the ignition key from the lock cylinder in step 6. 8) Press LOCK or UNLOCK button (2) on the transmitter (3) within 5 seconds (after step 7). All the doors will lock/ unlock to confirm that this process has been properly done. With this process, the transmitter has been programmed. 9) If you want to program an additional transmitter, repeat the procedure from Step 1) through Step 8). 10) Make sure that the keyless entry system properly operates by operating each transmitter.
