If you just want the car to crank and run try locking and unlocking the driver door with the key then switch it on for 2 mins and then try cranking it that works sometimes. when you dont have a remote.

Why won't my 98 Ford explorer start? My theft

try using a spare key.

Either way if it starts or not with the spare key a trip to the ford dealer may be in your future. occasionally the security system will forget your keys. You can program them yourself but you will need two keys that work. If you have two keys that work let me know and I'll let you know how do do it.

If you do not have two keys that work than the ford dealer will have to reprogram your keys into the security system.

My 98 ford explorer wont crank theft light is blinking real fast and radio and everything works

Whats happening is your PATS (Passive Anti Theft System or security system) is not programmed and can't read the code that is being transmitted from inside your key. There is only 2 solutions to this and one is going to cost you money... sorry. We'll start with the free solution.

1. First thing is that you will need 2 keys that are or were programmed to your vehicle. You are going to have to cycle your keys and you cant fool the system by using only one. Insert the first key and turn it to the run position for approximately 6 seconds then remove it and within 5 seconds insert the second key and do the same thing. Pull that key out. Now your vehicle should start with both keys and the theft light should be back to normal.

If this doesn't work option 2 is you have to take it to a Ford dealership and they will have to fix it for you. Hopefully this isn't the road you have to take. I work at Ford and am one of the few in our dealership who program keys. All the best and I hope solution 1 works for ya.

98 ford explorer wont start theft light on while cranking, no fuel presure at fuel rail

It sounds like the vehicle is in theft mode, did you use a different key? Does the theft light blink really fast with the key off?If the passive anti-theft system has been activated the computer will have to be reset in order to get the vehicle running again.
