Is there anyway to override or disable the traction control completely on a 2003 jag s type 4.2, so you can actually drag race. on or off with the factory switch just takes it from worse to bad.

SOURCE: suspension system 2003 X Type

That all depends on if you have the comfort or the sport suspension. The sport is a bit stiffer, and the comfort is pretty floaty. Now, repair shops will tell you that you need to replace the shocks every 50,000 miles, however they should be good for at least 100,000 miles. But, how to tell. There are 3 items to check- how much "dive" does your front end have when you brake? If it is significant, then you might be due. The opposite is true when accelerating off the line. Finally, push down on the front and back end with your hands, and if it bounces straight up, then you should still be good on your shocks.

If you have rattles from the shocks, either the mounts or the shocks themselves might be bad. You want to replace the shocks in either case.

Note, that replacing the shocks on the X Type is extremely expensive.

SOURCE: Traction Warning Light & ABS light on.

one of your wheel sensors are bad. if you go to napa they will let you use a code reader for free and that will tell you which wheel it is and you can replace that sensor. they are kinda expensive @ around 100 bucks a piece.

Check your brake fluid level first. If it is fine then you probably have a bad abs brake sensor.

I have a 2003 Yukon SLT 4WD with 5.1 engine throwing codes C0283, B0103, C0660. What do they mean?

DTC C0283 (W/O JL4)
The traction control switch is a momentary-contact, normally-open switch that can be used to disable the traction control system (TCS). Each time the traction control switch is pressed, the TCS enabled/disabled status changes. When TCS is disabled, the electronic brake control module (EBCM) illuminates the traction off indicator by opening the service traction control signal circuit.

DTC C0283 (W/JL4)
The traction control switch is a momentary-contact, normally-open switch that can be used to disable the engine torque management function of the TCS. On two wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles, the traction control switch is directly monitored by the EBCM. On four wheel drive vehicles equipped with selectable 4 LO, the traction contol switch is monitored by the transfer case shift control module (TCSCM), which sends the traction control switch status information to the EBCM on the serial data link. Each time the traction control switch is pressed, the VSES and TCS enabled/disabled status changes. When TCS is disabled, the EBCM sends serial data messages to the IPC to turn ON the traction off indicator and display the stability system disabled message.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTC C0660

The exhaust solenoid valve is switched on and off via the suspension control module. The suspension control module provides a switched path to ground whenever exhaust activity is required and during a compressor "head-relief" sequence which occurs at compressor start-up if system pressure is lower than 68.95 kPa (10 psi). The suspension control module continually monitors the exhaust solenoid valve circuitry to determine if the voltage level agrees with the commanded state.

DTC B0100, B0101, B0102, B0103, B0104, or B0105

The inflatable restraint front end sensor utilizes a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. The front end sensor modulates current on the interface to send ID, State of Health, and deployment commands to the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). The SDM serves as a power source and a ground for the front end sensor. When the ignition is turned on and input power from the SDM is first detected, the front end sensor responds by performing internal diagnostics and sending an ID to the SDM. The SDM considers the ID to be valid if the response time is less than 5 seconds. The front end sensor continually communicates status messages to the SDM, which determines if a fault is present in the front end sensor circuit. When a fault is detected, the SDM resets the front end sensor twice by removing and reapplying power. If the fault is still present, the SDM will set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

How to turn off traction control on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Alexandre, check in your owners manual for small off button on the shifter under the large engage button. If you do not want traction control on in your vehicle check your manual for traction control fuse location and remove fuse. I can not say this is a wise thing to do, because your traction control is a safety feature for your vehicle. ABS braking system will be lost if you pull the fuse also. Pulling the fuse will disable abs, traction and stability control. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

well while putting the car on the lift, traction control does not need to be disabled, and will not cause the abs/traction light to illuminate, these cars are known to have terrible wheel speed sensors that are brittle and tend to brake or malfunction for no apperent reason, and the wheel speed sensors are what control your abs and traction conrol units and they are normally what make the light come on on your dash, the warranty on the sensors was prolonged for that reason, so depending on the mileage of your car they might be covered, hope this helps

Brake peddle is chattering 2003 ion and would like to pull the anti lock brake fuse (if safe ) until i can afford the repair. I would like to know witch fuse to pull?ABS is on and traction control

If brake pedal is chattering or pulsating it is most likely because you need either front or rear rotors, or both. They are rusted or out of round. If there is something wrong with either your abs or traction control, the abs or traction control light will come on & stay on. As soon as these lights come on, it automatically disables abs or traction control. If you would like to take out fuse that disables abs or traction control circuits, it will leave the lights on.You just wont have their functions. If by some strange condition your chattering goes away, then there is indeed something wrong with your abs or traction control.Fuses are labeled abs or traction either under hood or in your fuse panel in car.

My jaguar 2001 x type jag has a warning on dashboard that say dsc or dcs failure can i get this warning to go away from dashboard and what is the fault

The DSC light stands for Dynamic Skid Control or in lawmen's terms Traction Control. If the light stays on you have a problem with this system. You will need to have it diagnosed by someone who has the tools and expertise to find the problem. More than likely you are going to have to take it to a Jaguar dealer.

Ihave a 2.5 V6 Jaguar X type 2003 base model. Does it have abs and traction control ? As none of this appears on the instrument panel.

ABS is Standard on the X-Type range.
Jaguar Traction 4 is standard on all 4 wheel drive vehicles. DSC was an optional extra!
