Put the old one back on,maybe you just got a defective sensor.
If it runs after changing back make sure you do replace it with a new good one as they fail often.

Location of crank sensor on 1997 lesabre

The crank sensor should be on the passenger side of the engine. It probably won't be visible without first removing the power steering reservoir, and possibly other items on that side of the engine. It is located down below near the waterpump pulley.

I have a 1990 buick lesabre that wont start

Timing chains do not go bad on a 3800. The old 3.8 b engines did. Try a crank sensor. My timing set in my 3800 has 293500.00 miles on it.
