What could be the trouble with my 2007 Nissan Sentra?

I'm driving thru Minnesota on my way home to Ohio. I used about 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank of gas and my service engine light came on. I drive till close to empty and stop to fill up my tank. After filling up my car wouldn't start. My boy friend pushes the gas pedal to the floor as he turns the key and it finally starts. This is a 2007 Nissan Sentra, 4 cylinder.

SOURCE: gas gage

It could be the fuel level sending unit is stuck or going out. It's in the gas tank.

SOURCE: doesnt always start, but lights, radio, AC/heat does come on.

First place to check is the battery. Old ones can push your lights , radio, etc, but the starter is the real load. . Can verify this by using jumper cables to a running vehicle and watch your machine fire right up! The reason mornings are the worst, is the battery has had the most time to discharge, and it is probably cooler outside.

SOURCE: Gas Gauge not reading correctly

The most likely culprit is the sending unit in the tank. They are relatively easy to change, as long as you don't have much fuel in the tank. It's a mechanical unit that has a float that raises and lowers with the fuel level, however with age, the floats can develop leaks and no longer float, of the electronic portion of the unit can go bad and not register the proper level. They are replaced and an entire unit, so it doesn't matter which happened, you will need to change the fuel tank sending unit.

2004 nissan sentra have problem pumping gas

When you're pumping gas, does it stop you at the end, when the tank is nearly full, or is it not letting you pump gas at all? And how does the fuel gauge read after you've added gas? If it stops you and it still says the tank isn't full, it could just be that the float in your tank that connects to the gauge is wrong.

Nissan Sentra 2005 Service engine light, gas overflow

Start by getting the DTCs diagnostic trouble codes as they will point you in the right direction. You may have some blockage in the vent tube or the vent solenoid fail but really what good is guessing when you can simply get the trouble codes and have a starting point.

There is a fuel filter in the fuel tank. It is not sevicable. Your car could be dieing because of many diffrent things. It is almost immposible to tell over the computer. you would need to check fuel pressure and then spark. There is nothing that sounds famiailr about your car as compared to others of the same make and model. Sorry.

It is located in the gas tank as a part of the fuel pump assembly and im not sure about the access but if you cant see a removable plate in the trunk then the tank will have to be droped.

THE CAR GIVES TROUBLE TO FILL THE TANK, YOU PRESS THE TRIGGER AT THE PUMP AND GAS BLOWS BACK, YOU HAVE TOTRICKLE THE GAS IN SLOWLY, WHICH TAKES A LOT OF TIME,AND THIS HAPPENS AT ALL STATIONS, ? ? ?

you have a vent tube thats plugged or kinked. Its a 1/2 or so size an usally follows the fill pipe down.Sometimes you can look in fuel filler hole and see small hose-- thats your vent.you should see it from under side of car without too much trouble
