Why wont my 2001 gmc sierra 2500hd go into 4th gear? it goes to about 59 to 60 mph but still revs up to 3000 rpm's? its there a sensor or something I can check on?

There is a speed/shift sensor you could change, but if you haven't changed the fuel filter in a while, i'd go there first. Sometimes, in fact, often, plugged fuel filters can cause the engine to starve for fuel, and make it seem like the transmission is the problem.
yes i have heard of this and my friend is on the second transmission in his 2006 2500HD.the first time there was internal issues and the second time they ended up changing out the whole tranny.
