You do not want to remove this rubber. There may not be custom designed roof bars to fit this model. If you really wanted to I guess you could use sheet metal screws to install brackets under the edges of the door sills.

Trying to reinstall the roof cargo racks on the rails of a 01 jeep cherokee my son took off and cant remember to put on

That's usually easier to do if you remove one side rail.
There are usually six access holes in the rail that the screws go into. (pretty sure the screws are torx type) Once the rail is off, you can easily attach the cross bars and re-attach the rail to the roof. Ends of cross bars are held on with a screw that goes in from the bottom side. When replacing roof screws it is good to put a dab of silicone sealer on each screw hole to prevent rust or leaks.

Re-positioning crossbars on roof rack

Hi Its easy to do I did this last night. It is in the manual but light on detail

Remove the rubber and you will see a screw
Use a size 25 torx screw bit and a ratchet as it is in tight. Undo the screw and move the bars.

For some reason there is only one more locking point you can move forward to from there you are on your own but normally it is just the last bit you need.

I believe the logic is to do with a combination of wind noise and the position of the sun roof on some models.

Convertible roof won't open on passenger side 54plate

if you have a sound bar you must remove it from the top of the roll bar then remove the foam from the bar also on the bar that is bolted to the front windshield and back bar the one over the doors ther is a bolt on top a 50 torx with a line in it you need to purchase a sloted 50 torx bit loose and pull forward or back this will help

Loud whistle noise from roof rack

Take a thin utility cord. Tie it to one end of the front bar and wrap it repeatedly around the bar to the other end of the front bar (spaced about an inch per loop, working around anything attached to the rack) where you tie it tight. Can disrupt the airflow to break the noise - got rid of all of the noise from my rack. I used a 10 foot cord cost $1.60. Doesn't look as cool as a fairing, but much cheaper and no one will steal it from your car. And you don't have to move the bars so that you can't use them.
