I think the sensor in my door is bad. WHen I take a turn or brake the passenger seatbelt retracts like the door is open and does not set back unless you open the door. I can't find the sensor or solution in any repair book. 93 Acura Integra
We found the solution.: If your seltbelt is disengaging while driving; The striker plate is out of adjustment. It is losing contact with the switch inside the latch. Move it "in" to make the door close tighter. The contact with the switch is closer and the problem should be fixed. We found the solution.: If your seltbelt is disengaging while driving; The striker plate is out of adjustment. If you have a heavy enough object sitting in the passenger seat, the sensor may think a person is sitting there without a seatbelt on....or in a case that I ran into a few years back, a small coin had lodged inside my locking side seat belt. The side with the release button. Or lastly, have you vacuumed your car recently? You may have unplugged your seatbelt sensor wires while vacuuming.
Your car is getting up in age too, so check to see if the retracting spring is still pulling the seatbelt back into its holster, check the general condition of your locks on the belts....not sure if there is a fuse link for a seatbelt system in your car...but you could check your owners manual to see if there is, and while in the manual...check for reasons the seatbelt light comes on too. You can get a copy of your owners manual on line from Nissan or a aftermarket source. Good luck and sorry I couldn't be more specific. Your owners manual or an on line search of the trouble code and the specific working generated by the readout will give some information I'm sure....Work safely please. and beware of air bags when messing with seat safety issues. If you deploy an air bag on yourself while messing with the safety controls.....you could be killed or injured....so be careful.
If both passengers and drivers side retractable belts have stopped moving, then it's likely the controller that's located under the passengers seat has gone bad. If only one side has stopped retracting and moving then that side motor has probably gone bad.
the signal wire for the setbelt is broken in the rubber boot that is in the door jam. These wires are known to brake from being bent so many times from opening and closing the doors.
This is how I fixed my seatbelt problem.
you must replace seatbelts of the same type as they work in conjunction with the airbag sensors.just before the airbags go off the seatbelts retract(milleseconds)to pull any slack tight, and you back into the seat,
will have to take the side panel off where the belt is located make sure no twists are present. if not pull it hard and see if it retracts, if it still does not retract you may have to replace the unit. the retraction spring in the unit is broken, or the lock mechanism has failed.
Open the drivers door and look at the hindge area and you will see a black rubber accordian tube between the door and the pillar. This is the protective cover for the wiring harness. Now take a screw driver and stick it into the latch that latches when u close the door and trip the latch. Now start up the vehicle and wiggle the black tube and see if you can duplicate the concern. If so then pull the cover back and inspect the wires for a broken wire. these models are bad for this happening.
2000 Honda Odyssey the middle seat belt is broken. The seatbelt won't retract. The end of the belt does not come out but the entire seatbelt will come out of the hole. Any suggestions?
