Looks like to Nova with 300 horsepower versus 150 for the Corvair.

Not an easy job. The fuel pump is in the fuel tank and the tank has to be removed to access the pump.

Before you replace the fuel pump you need to run some basic tests to prove that the fuel pump itself has failed rather than some other item like faulty wiring, a faulty relay or other electrical issues.
If there is a power failure to the pump it is not going to run.

Does your vehicle have daytime running lights? If so, it's a far more complicated system and you'll probably have to take it to a shop.

my modified 1962 corvair with 4bbl,280 cam and stinger ignition has taken to backfiring through the exhaust a lot.what do you think it is ?

If it still has a breaker point ignition system then gap the spark plugs at .032 inch, or .81 mm, and if the distributor has been converted over to an electronic ignition system then gap the spark plugs at .040 inch, or 1.0 mm.

if this starter "went bad" by refusing to work (run)
replace your ignition switch: it's behind the ignition lock on the steering column.
ignitions do not tell starters to do anything: the ignition switch key turns the starter on and, a spring returns the key to off when you release it turning the starter off.

ignition key cylinder is normally attached to ur steering wheel shaft/ u can remove it by loosening the screws and bolts and nuts that fasten it to the base.....

I had a problem with no starter action on my 2000 accent. Would come and go. I found the small ignition wire to the starter solenoid was corroded at its push-on terminal. Been fine since cleaning and a slight tightening squeeze with pliers.

try unplug the up streem O2 sensor drive the car for a while then check the code if its not p0300 change the O2 sensor

dear friend:you can wiggel the steering from side to side and turn the ignition at the same time that might work,if not remove ignition and take it to a locksmith.
