You need new tailgate struts. Most auto parts stores sell them. Just stick a broom stick under the tailgate and remove the ceiling panel and unsnap the old ones and snap the new ones in. Make sure to install them exactly the way they were before you started.

Does you vehicle have a pair of telescoping rods hooked to the tailgate? If so they are worn out they can be bought at your auto parts store. They are called LIFT SUPPORTS.

It could be something simple like a blocked jet. If you take one of your wife's fine sewing needles and gently puch it into the centre of the nozzle it will work again if that is the probelm. It could be a problem with the motor and pump but they are durable so I would try the needle trick first.

If you gentle pull back the seat cushion at the top nearest the catch you will see a brass colored round latch push this down with a screwdriver and hold down. now insert another screwdriver and push a little higher up this should release the catch and you can pull the seat down you will need to fiddle about a bit but it will release.
