My parklights,tail,not brake lights wont work,dashboard lights nor interior lights.. Horn not working,neither are my windows and cruise control on my 2004 chevy caviler

ON CERTAIN MINIVANS, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MAY BECOME DISABLED DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE CLOCKSPRING, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE HUB OF THE STEERING WHEEL. Corrective Summary: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY ON ALL COVERED VEHICLES WITH 70,000 MILES OR LESS. FOR THOSE VEHICLES WITH MORE THAN 70,000 MILES, DAIMLERCHRYSLER WILL OFFER AN EXTENDED LIFETIME WARRANTY UNDER WHICH IT WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING AT NO CHARGE IF IT FAILS. DAIMLERCHRYSLER WILL ALSO REIMBURSE OWNERS WHO HAVE PAID TO HAVE THE CLOCKSPRING REPLACED ON THEIR VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 12, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403. A malfunctioning clockspring can also effect your cruise control,radio, wipers, and your horn relay. This can also happen one at a time til none of these are working.The solotion is to get the clockspring replaced . I DO NOT suggest you doing this on your own!

SOURCE: The brake lights wont work. The brake light over

the break light wire on the lumina runs through the blinker switch or multifunction switch on the colum.. check there as well as at the tail light sockets. on the late 90s gm cars the sockets had a tendancy to rot away... use a test light at the brake light wire in the trunk and have a friend apply the break. if there is power then may have to get new tail lights. or replacement bulbs.

The cruise control stopped working on my 2002 Montana. I googled this and several places kept indicating the brake lights. I thought they were OK also because the top bar came on when you step on the pedal. However, the side lights did not get brighter. Turns out I had both bulbs bad, they have two elements. Once that was fixed the left turn signal flashed very fast when tested and that was a bulb in the front that went bad. Before I was done one headlight went out from a bad bulb and I replaced that too. Finally got to test it out, and lo and behold, the cruise control now works.....

most likely the clockspring or ribbon assembly inside the steering wheel has a broken spot in it. if you try to do it yourself be careful with the airbag system
