If you had bad shift soleniods a check engine light would have come on . You have a valve body problem . This vehicle does not have a TCM - has a PCM - powertrain control module ! Controls engine an transmission . Your best bet would be to take it to a qualified repair shop .
You started at the wrong end. The speed sensor controls the function of those solenoids you just replaced. Did you change the transmission Fluid and filter, it was due at 80,000 miles. Perform an OBDII scan of the stored fault history. let the OBDII scan be your guide to repairs, to avoid buying parts you don't need. Loss of speed sensor signal will result in no torque converter lock up or overdrive as well as no down shift back to 1st.
SOURCE: NO SECOND GEAR IN TRANNY
sounds like what happened to my camaro. it sounds like a stuck valve. i suggest taking it in for an estimate at a transmission specialist.
SOURCE: When trans shifts into overdrive it shifts at high rpms?
No not likely. Is the 3-4 shift rough? What speed are you going when it shifts into 4th? It likely just needs the T.V. cable adjusted.
SOURCE: 1988 chevy c1500 problem with second gear
be 1988 and Im sure it has high miles, sound like worn transmission, transmission flush and replace it with new fluid might help some. get use tranny from a junk yard better and cost lot less than rebuilt. being GM mechanic for many years i see transmission on a truck with 100k tend to have leaks or need rebuilding. again i see some have better luck but rear.
SOURCE: truck will start but shift indicator wont light up
Are you sure it wont take off in first gear? The indicator on the dash only shows what gear you put it in.
