2011 Hyundai Sonatas have been reported on the net by a few to have a random problem ... i have 2013 Hyundai sonata and the engine won't start when i use the key and turn on .... Had similar problem with my 2012 Elantra.

So if your Elantra won't start, turn the key to where you can move the shift .... Having exact same problem on my 2011 elantradid you find out ...
If you have already made sure the oil level is full try disconnecting the negative battery cable wait a minute and re-connect that should clear it. If it doesn't you may have to replace the oil level sensor.
try replacing the temperature sensor switch it located on top of the cyl head it is about the size of a pencil diameter wise about inch and half long if this is bad it will trat the fuel injection like it is 10 below outside even though the car is hot the sensor will probably have only one wire going to it
