SOURCE: my gas mileage is horrible. what can i do to fix

Okay... K&N drop-in filter, NGK V-Power plugs (and NGK wires), run tires 2-4psi over manufacturer's recommendation, replace fuel filter anually, use a good fuel system cleaner every oil change, use synthetic oil in the crankcase, transmission AND differentials, drive with windows up and A/C off (just vents), drive 55mph on freeway (this one is HUGE), slow acceleration and try not to drive short distances. These are all "hyper-mileage" techniques that garner better fuel economy. If there is a mechanical problem causing the fuel economy to be bad, the spark plugs, wires and filters ought to be a help.

i hope this helps out,
matthew

Isuzu ascender 2004 ... headlights go off anytime they want ... sometimes for short periods of time and sometimes for days, all other lights work just fine including the high beams. what could be the...

Just solved this problem on our 2004 Isuzu Ascender. It was a bad relay located in the fuse/relay box which can be found inside the engine compartment. The relay is number 46 (HDM) on the diagram located on the inside cover of the fuse/relay box lid.

There are actually two of the same relays side by side in the fuse/relay box. To be sure this is the problem you can remove the relay from slot 45 and put in 46, the headlights should come on and stay on. Of course you will need to replace the relay which can be purchased and most GM/Chevy. The part number is: 15016745. I paid $52 for mine.

Oh, and be sure you use solid state relays only. The afore mentioned part number is a solid state relay.

Is there a repair manual for a 2004 Isuzu Ascender?

No, there is not one available. However, the Chevy Trailblazer is basically the same vehicle and there is a repair manual available for that.
