On a 2006 pt cruiser 2.2 crd, manual transmission the gears are not engaging. what can the problem be?

Is it possible that is the starter relay? I didnt even realize it had one until I started looking online. Where would the starter relay be in the engine ... Having issues with my starter relay.

You can purchase a Haynes repair manual from your local AutoZone for about 30.00 it covers all aspects of repair step by step. Even body repair if your do inclined to get those pesky hail dents out.

You could try the linkage cable from the shifter(under the hood). It could be alot of things. Is it auto or manual trans? And what do you mean by wont shift? Is the the shifter moving from P,R,N,D, ect... or the transmission is not shifting into a higher gear?

Can be issue with transmission or its related components.Many car models face such problems.

2007 pt crusier Hard shifting manual 5 speed transmission in warm weather

the shift cables can be adjusted but you will have to remove the cover around the console. Also look at the top of the transmission to see if any of the cables came off. Oreilly sells a chilton manual for pt cruisers on page 7a-2 it shows the cables and how to adjust them.

You have worn out your shift cables. They cost approx 500 to replace. Mine did the same thing, and of course not covered under extended warranty because it is a wear and tear part just like break pads.
