With a volt meter check each side of the brake light switch with the brake pedal depressed, must be battery voltage each side, if not replace switch, if ok check for battery voltage at the light and a good earth,if ok bad earth at light, if no voltage , bad or broken connection from light to brake switch.

Check the bulb ground connection. Power may be reaching the bulbs but you need a ground to complete the circuit.

Can you tell me what wires should have power in the brake light switch behind the pedal? 94 geo tracker

Brake light bulbs are illuminated within the rear combination light assemblies whenever the brake pedal is pressed. This happens because of the brake light switch (also known as the stop lamp switch) located above the brake pedal. Pressing the the brake pedal closes the internal contacts of the brake light switch which transfers power from the battery to the combination light assembly. For example, in a '94 Geo Tracker the STOP/HORN fuse (15A) supplies power to the brake switch via a green wire and then to the combination light assemblies via a green/white white wire whenever the brake switch contacts close. These are the only two wires for the brake switch. The combination light assemblies on the other hand have four wires; brake light input (green/white wire), tail light input (red/blue wire), turn signal input (green wire) and ground (black wire). If all of the brake lights are inoperative, chances are the brake switch has failed or the power-supply fuse has blown. This is because it is highly unlikely for all brake light bulbs to fail simultaneously (although not impossible). My break lights dont work.fuzes and bulbs are ok ?

For starters it is spelled "Brake" light...LOL . Sounbds like you may have a brake light switch that has gone out. In yor owners manual does it show more than one fuse for the brake lights? Most vehicles with a thrid/highmount brake light split the brake light power to either the left and third brake light and the right brake light or vice versa, or posibble 3rd brake light on its own fuse. I would check if all of the brake light including the 3rd brake light dont work. If no lights work at all it leans toward the switch which controls all or them to activate hence the brake light switch. It should be mounted on your brake peal arm or to the main base. The pedal lever activate the switch when you depress the brake pedal.

My running lights work my turn signals work why don't my brake lights

You either have a bad brake light switch or a bad fuse that powers your brake lights. Go to your fuse panel and check the fuse first. If it checks good then check the brake light switch. The switch will be located on the brake pedal at the top. There should be two wires into the switch. One will have power at all times. as you depress the brake pedal it makes the connection in the switch to the other wire which then sends power to the brake lights and illuminates the bulbs. Use an electrical tester to make sure you have power in and power out when the brake pedal is depressed.

2000 300M. no brake lights. changed switch, not it. checked all fuses, not it. changed all bulbs, not it. Was burnt bulb on deck lid light though. Help Please! All other lights and signals work. ...

Dont just go replacing parts, that gets expensive and a lot of work and you have not fixed anything. First at the switch, make sure the Pink/Dk Blue wire is hot. (fuse #20) and then when brake pedal is depressed the White/Tan wire should be hot. From there it goes to the Stop lamps. You dont say if the high mounted stop lamp works or not ( I ASSUME not??? working) You say the bulb was burned out, but not if it works or not??? there is connector C200 that is between the switch and the lights. its located just to the left of drivers feet, in the kick panel...but you really need to verify if you have power to the White/Tan wires at the rear tail lights.

2007 chevy silverado brake lights dont work but the one above bed and blinkers and tail lights do work

I had the same problem! I used a piece of wood to keep the break pedal depressed and then started to remove one of the break lamps and to my surprise it came on! Same thing on the other side. So I did not seat (bottom out) the lamps in their sockets and both break light are now working properly. I had a similar issue last spring but that time only one light was out. I put in a new bulb and it still did not work so I messed around with it a little more and it started working. Never did figure it out until now. Hope this helps!

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Trouble Symptoms: -When lights are on, brake lights (all three) remain illuminated and only flicker when brake pedal is depressed. Facts: -With lights off, dashboard lights...

sounds like wireing is shorted together. you need to trace down wires and check for bad spots in wireing. also be sure and check plug if you are set up for trailer lights.

2007 chevy brake lights dont work but the center one does

Try looking under the dash, on the brake pedal arm there will be a switch, this is your brake light switch, verify power to it, then apply brake pedal and verify power is coming out.

2005 silverado brake lights wont come on

get a test light, on the brake pedal itself is a two or four wire switch, check for power at the switch on one terminal, when you depress brake pedal voltage should transfer to a second terminal thus feeding power to the rear brake lights. check this and keep me posted.
