SOURCE: fanbelt diagram for 98 honda passport

Check carefully under the hood. There should be a sticker under the hood in the engine compartment with a diagram of the belt routing. If you can't find it, check your owners manual (if u still have it), if all this fails, ask where u purchased the new belt, they would have access to that info. Good luck!

SOURCE: how to fill automatic transmission on '97 Honda Passport 4X4

There is a metal fitting bolt close to the bottom of the transmission. You can unscrew that out and if transmission fluid comes out it's good. If this doesn't occur you'll have to get a pump and pump transmission fluid in it. This is the easiest with a lift of course. Don't you hate stupid Japanese ideas. Good luck man

SOURCE: i need a diagram of how to put transmission in 98 honda passport

If you have an automatic transmission, you should take it to a mechanic or at least purchase the special fluid temperature gauge needed to do it right. You add fluid through the overfill screw opening found on the transmission fluid pan (there is no dipstick or underhood component on the 96' and later models). It should be located in one corner of the pan; there's also a drain plug is more toward the middle. Never open the overfill screw with the engine stopped - it should always be running and warm.

For a manual transmission, the fill plug is also on the pan, but it is located on the side.

SOURCE: Transmission fluid/filter change in 2000 Honda Odyssey

I would not recommend using Dexron III. Honda Odysseys are prone to transmission problems. A drain and fill with Genuine Honda Fluid is Recommended. The drain plug can be removed with a 3/8 ratchet at the bottom of the trans. The fill hole is at the top of the trans. You remove it with a socket on a long extension. The capacity is close to 3 quarts

1999 Honda passport will not shift automatically but will shift manually

Have you checked the transmission fluid? Check the level and color. The color should be red, not dark or brown.

On an older car, changing the transmission fluid can actually cause more issues, so check the Honda forums (just Duck Duck Go search and you'll find them).
Some cars have a transmission filter that can get clogged as well.
Let us know if this helps.

I change the transmission filter and fluid to my 97 4×4 Honda passport. Now it won't go in any gear and seems to always be in neutral. I have no idea??????

You may have missed a small gasket for the transmission filter, and the transmission may be sucking air instead of transmission fluid. Re-check your work, and make sure that ALL GASKETS are present, however small, and make certain you have not over-torqued any bolts holding the transmission filter into the valve body.

Don't know how to check or change the transmission fluid in 1997 Honda Passport. Do I have to take it to a shop?

fluid level can only be checked from under the vehicle.there are two plugs on the transmission case,a drain plug & an 'overflow' plug. 'full' is level with the threads at the bottom of the overflow plug,as on a manual transmission.I've heard Honda ATF is recommended.filter is accessed by removing pan.

Locating transmission fluid

I believe those transmissions are computer controlled. There should be a light that comes on when you need to put more fluid in. Only way to actually KNOW how much is in there is to change the tranny filter/pan gasket and see how much drains out

Honda passport trans light flashing

Most likely you have a bad transmission pressure solenoid. You weren't too specific so here's what to look for: The engine light, the trans light and the shifiting, if when you drive on a level surface the suv seems to shift late and very rough...that is probably what it is. It's a few hundred to have fixed because they have to pull the casing off the trans and they'll want to replace the fluid and filter too. good luck.
