SOURCE: whats the easiest way to change afuel pump in a

There is no easy way, you have to drop the fuel tank. It's inside there. Note: gasoline weighs about 7 pounds a gallon, so siphon out as much as you can.

SOURCE: 2001gmc jimmy starts and stalls security light stays on

The security light has one job, it warns you that there is a "break" or "miscommunication" in your antitheft system. This is why the Jimmy keeps stalling. The antitheft system cuts the power to the injectors (It's thinking it is protecting itself from theft) and the vehicles stalls in 5 seconds or less after starting. They are also known to stall while driving. Followed by the security light. The SECURITY light will either flash or stay on solid. A solid light normally indicates a bad Theft Deterrent Module, this is the brain of the whole system. Go to this link, it has alot of info stuff that should help you out.

SOURCE: 2001gmc jimmy the heater does not heat full capacity even when the vehicle has ran for more then an hour

The most common cause for that is the engine thermostat being stuck in the open position. A new thermostat and gasket is less than $20. Other things can cause it, though. Check the coolant level in the radiator and the reservoir when the engine is COLD, and top-off if needed. Your temperature control lever cable for the mode doors may not be working properly or may be disconnected. I'm not sure about your particular vehicle, but some have a heater control valve under the hood to control the coolant flow to the heater core. It would be located by the firewall, and would have a heater hose attached to it, and have another hose entering the firewall.

How long does it take to replace a fuel pump on a

If your doing it on the ground, with a half or full tank. About five hours, if you know what your doing. otherwise, look at 8 to ten hours. On the ground. With a lift and jacks, you can do it in about 2 hours. Again, if you know what your doing.

My 96 Jimmy leaks coolant from below, sometimes worse than other times. What's the problem do you think? How expensive? Thanks! Gordon

Look at the water pump. These will usually leak more when the engine is cold, such as when it sits over night, and can sometimes stop leaking all together when the engine is warm. There is a breather hole in the pump, right below the fan blade, and that's usually where you'll find the leak. See if the lower hose has a coolant stain on the bottom of it. follow it up to the water pump and you should probaly see the breather hole leaking.

My 1998 jimmy has always leaked antifreeze but the last month it has got bad to were i have to fill it up everyday

You need to get or rent a coolant system tester and identify where it is leaking from. They are very simple to use. You just remove your radiator cap and install the tester and pump up the cooling system and then you watch for where the coolant is coming from. Look closely at your water pump, intake manifold gasket, radiator, heater hose coupler on the intake manifold, and coolant hoses. Those are all the common leak areas.

I have a 1999 jimmy with 115,000 miles and I,m hearing about the intake manifolds leaking antifreeze what concerns should i have with my jimmy and what type of antifreeze should I be using

A leaking manifold could cost you a VERY expensive repair. I recommend getting it fixed as soon as you can. And with the antifreeze...seeing how it it a GM it should take DEX-COOL. But look under the hood and look for a white sticker and it should say "This vehicle takes DEX-COOL coolant. Do not mix with any other coolant" and if not the cap for the coolant should say so. If so, then obviously you need DEX-COOL or universal coolant. Universal will not harm anything, but I would use the manufacters reccommendations just on the safe side.

1999 GMC Jimmy Running Hot w/ Engine coolant reservoir empty

I guess the burning question is , where is the coolant going.
Is this a 4.3 engine? How many miles does the vehicle have?
Has the intake gasket been changed?
I'm guessing a can of "Bars Leak" may cure your problem.
Let me know.
