SOURCE: where is the neutral safety switch no a chevy

Generally on GMs, if it's a column shift, it's down low on the steering column under the dash, and if it is a floor shift, it is at the base of the shifter, under the shifter housing. Look for purple wires or a purple wire and a yellow wire. I don't know what year your truck is. Hope this helps!

(PNP) Switch Circuit DTC?P0851 Park/Neutral Position (PNP)

quote service manual on topic

amazing what use the manual is. 1min work to find there. searched.

The park/neutral position?(PNP) switch is integrated into the IMS and connects to the transmission control module?(TCM) lead-frame through a short wire harness. The circuit uses the TCM as a pass-through connector only. The Park/Neutral Signal is sent from the park/neutral switch directly to the engine control module?(ECM) and is used for engine start enable.
The transmission manual shift shaft switch assembly, also known as the internal mode switch?(IMS), is a sliding contact switch attached to the manual shift shaft inside the transmission case.
see 4Tbox (transaxle ) below, red circle bingo.

As they say it is not your fathers Oldsmobile.

I got a 2010 f-450 super duty 6.4 diesel towing wrecker is the a reverse light switch ? if it does where is it located on the transmission ?

Hello. Yes, I am sure there is a 'back up' lamp circuit on your truck. You didn't specify if your truck has a manual or automatic transmission. If your truck has an automatic transmission, then the 'neutral safety switch' has to be replaced; assuming the back up lamps are good. Yes, modern automatic transmission vehicles, usually, have the neutral safety switch on the side of their transmissions. Most modern manual transmission vehicles neutral safety switch are either under the 'shifter assembly' or on top of their transmission. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Where is the neutral safety switch located on a 2006 pontiac grand prix?

Where is the neutral safety switch located?
The neutral safety switch for an automatic transmission is located inside the transmission case or in the linkage that allows the vehicle to shift gears. This switch prevents you from starting the engine when the transmission is in any gear other than Park or Neutral.Jan 8, 2016

Is the back up switch connected to the shifting linkage of the automatic transmission on my 1988 ford bronco II

If you have the C5 trans, here is the info:

C5 Transmission
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  3. Remove the downshift linkage rod from the transmission downshift lever.
  4. Apply rust penetrant to the outer lever attaching nut to prevent breaking the inner lever shaft. Remove the transmission downshift outer lever attaching nut and lever.
  5. Remove the two neutral start switch retaining bolts.
  6. Disconnect the multiple wire connector.
  7. Remove the neutral start switch from the transmission.

To install:

  1. Install the neutral start switch on the transmission. Install the two retaining bolts.
  2. Adjust the neutral safety switch following the above procedure.
  3. Install the outer downshift lever and retaining nut, and tighten the nut. Install the downshift linkage rod with the retaining clips.
  4. Connect the wire multiple connector. Check the operation of the switch. The engine should start only with the transmission selector lever in N or P.

If it is the:
C3 And A4ld Transmissions
It's on the transmission....
