The car dies at stop and idles rough at low rpm

OBD Tools 365 Days Shop
A rough engine idle can come from a variety of causes. During the winter months, cars may have a harder time starting and will shake when first turned on. This form of rough idle can easily be mistaken for other problems. Engine idle problems can also be attributed to malfunctioning components, such as spark plugs. Holes in the air intake valve can also cause a rough engine idle because of excessive amounts of air being drawn in.
The rough idle of an engine can signify a power loss in the car. This loss of power could lead to other problems, such as excessive gas consumption. This lack of power can also lead to additional wear on other parts of the car. Ignoring problems with the engine of can lead to a massive breakdown that will require you either to make costly repairs or replace the car entirely.

Hi. I have a 99 camaro 3.8l and I'm having some

Sounds like a fuel problem,You did the coils, plug wires and sparkplugs, that should of taken care of the misfire,You may have a EGR that stay open and doesnt close properly and it doesnt set a code why the ECM compensate for the false air.Now this causes rough idle, and smooth cruise with no misfire until you get to stop or idle speed. The map sensor this can also fail when warm especially if the vacuum it is suppose to get is not met. And a failing MAP causes a lack of power. A TPS failing causes a stumble and lack of power but no misfire.cansmo_184.gif

I have a 1999 vw Golf Wolfsburg Ed. 4cyl. 2.0 It is the old body style. The car runs ok as long as it doesn't rain. When it rains car will start and idle fine but when you hit the gas it spudders no power...

You must have bad ignition wires. The high voltage electricity must be leaking out of the boot(s) and arching from the moist air surrounding the coil pack.
Use a spray bottle filled with tap water. Set the nozzle to mist and not stream, you want to have a misting effect. With the engine running, spray at the area of the spark plugs, wires and coil pack. Do this in a dark area so you can easily see if any arching is produced. Observe while spraying water if the engine starts to run rough. If it does you definitely have an electrical leak and need to repair or replace that part. Some people apply JB Weld epoxy to a cracked ignition coil pack housing, I would just replace the coil because it can cause misfiring of a cylinder and ruin your catalytic converter. For a 2.0 AEG engine it would cost about $70 for the part. If it were the ignition wires, they usually cost the same price.

VW Golf TDI enjin power loss and shudder at certain temperature

I think i would be inclined to look at the coil pack ,and the wiring for this where it comes from the ECU ,i have never come across this before but its possible if the ECU isnt passing the correct information to the coil pack to fire in the right order ,what about the crank position sensor wiring are they shorting somewhere ?' Have a good look at the wiring and if necessary take the black outer sheafing off to inspect the wires inside
