It's an egr valve problem (exhaust gas return) egr position sensor.
Take off the egr valve and turn it over and see if there is carbon build up in the ports, if there is clean it out with a pipe cleaner and a little carbon cleaner, just spray a little into the ports and clean it out. If that doesn't cure the problem, then either the sensor needs replacing, and or the egr valve.

couple things to check. The dimmer switch may have failed open. Try moving the adjustment back and forth to see if the lights flicker. If you understand rheostats, perhaps you can test the dimmer.
You can also check the back of the instrument panel to make sure the connector for the lights is still connected. Also, make sure your parking lights are coming on OK. If not, the problem is propbably the relay in the relaybox under the hood. If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
