Swapped hydraulic fan for a electric fan on a Dodge Ram srt 10 but I now have a engine light on dash and code p1499,any help

P1499 Open Or Shorted Condition Detected In The Hydraulic Cooling Fan Solenoid Control
I think you could either reconnect the unused hydraulic solenoid and tie it up so that it is still working, therby closing the circuit, or solder in a 10 ohm 100 watt resistor per youtube vid from Martinbuilt - titled "Hydraulic to Electric Fan Conversion 01-04 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L" at the 33 minute mark.

2002 grand cherokee, overland 4,7L engine doesnt

Hi Joko,

What you are describing is a failure of a main circuit. The first thing you should check is yo make sure that your battery is in good condition and that the cables are clean and tight. Let me know if yu find anything wrong there. Then there may be another main circuit problem. Check all of the fuses in your fuse block in the engine compartment. If any of these fuses are blown, it will usually cause several things to not work. If you find any fuses blown, DON'T REPLACE IT YET. Let me know WHICH fuse is blown and I can help you find out why it blew so you can get the problem fixed.

Get back to me on this and we will continue.

My 2004 High Performance Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland all of a sudden when idling, the motor begins to race and the temp gauge goes over to 260. When you put in gear and drive it goes back down quickly. It...

Is it really the engine which starts running, or is it the hydraulic cooling fan which makes a lot of noise due to the high coolant temperature? Since the temperature drops down rapidly when you start driving, the problem seems to be with a restricted airflow from the cooling fan. Was the radiator changed lately?
Take care in not overheating this engine, because the heads can warp (coolant leak) and/or it can start dropping a valve seat.

2003 grand cherokee cooling fan not coming on , replaced thermostat. How do I determine if it's the fan relay?

the fan relay is very hard to get to! it's under the right hand side head light assembly.
you need to get to it to check the power to and from it when the engine is at the operating temperature.
a repair shop with proper equiptment can use a scan tool to demand the fan to turn on. if it does not turn on then the relay is bad, with condition that the fan is known good
